Title: Searching for Greta V I Francis
Post by: ajf25 on Saturday 21 May 16 09:01 BST (UK)
Hi all, I need your help to find this lady.

Greta V.I. Francis was born to James Patrick Francis and Ada Victoria May Francis (née Britt) in 1907, with the birth recorded in Cooma, NSW.

Ada left the family home, with Greta when Greta was a young child. I can find no record of her. One of my husband's aunts did meet her at some stage and said she was "a nice lady" but could tell me no more other than it was around Tumut, NSW.

Any help would be gratefully received.
Cheers, Alison  :)

A possibility:

From electoral rolls, probably her husband:

Though this says maiden surname was COOK:

Are you missing both Ada and her daughter?  This couple were together with the ANNETTS surname at Adelong from at least 1930.  She is Ada Victoria May on electoral rolls.  The marriage was the year after the death of James Patrick FRANCIS at Cooma.

Ada ANNETTS was 87 when she died at Wagga. Parents not listed.

3026/1978  ANNETTS Ada Victoria May
Died at WAGGA WAGGA
087 (=aged 87)

Not much help with anything, but an interesting item. The beginning of this article is missing but it tells of a fatal mishap with a “horse-o-plane” which is operated by Charles Albert FRANCIS in 1953

Monaro Pioneers website has information about the family and quite a bit about Ada Victoria May BRITT's three partnerships.  Unfortunately nothing useful about Greta.  I think you have to register to access the info but it's free and seems to be reasonably well-researched citing references.  Obviously some of the info needs checking.

More information now including photos I've not seen  :D
Must check out all the other arms of the tree for any other additions

Hi Alison

I checked your profile and your email notifications are set to 'instantly but only for the first reply'. If you miss that notifcation and don't come back to your topic you won't get any more notifications until you do.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;area=notification;u=123040

You could change your preferences to 'instantly' and then you'll get a notification every time.

May be worth giving it a go. You can tuen it back if you get too many emails.

Hi Linda,
Welcome to Rootschat.
I've sent you a personal message, but I'm not sure if you can access it until you've made 3 posts. I know you can't send a PM until then, but you may be able to read one. Look up the top of the screen for "messages" and click on there. If you can access it, it will come up.
Don't put your email up on this forum. We use the messaging system for that.
Lovely to hear from you,
Cheers,
Alison  :D

I am wondering if you have been able to find Greta Victoria Isobel Francis, as I have been able to and I am only too happy to share. I am researching for a friend who's elusive grandmother has been hard to find. I got her to do a DNA with Ancestry and 4-6 cousin relationship came up with the Charles Albert Francis child who married a Samuel Locke daughter and this how I am here replying to you. Cheers Tricia

Hi Tricia,

Sorry for the delay in my response. I wasn’t notified of your reply. I’ve adjusted my settings again so hopefully it won’t happen again. Funny, it only seems to happen on this thread.

I would absolutely love any information you are willing to share. I’ve searched for years with no luck. For us to use the personal message system, you will need to post twice more. Once this happens, we can exchange emails. Don’t post your email on the public forum, as it will be deleted. Your posts don’t need to have significant information; there just need to be three of them.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Alison  :)
