My 4 x great grandfather, was Alfred Rollason, born in Eastbourne in July 1824, died in Mylor Cornwall in 1908. Seeking information about the family and would like to contact any living relative.

What sort of information are you wanting - and what do yo already know about "the family" - we don't want to spend time looking for info that you already have!
Have you got him (and his family) in all the censuses, for example. Do you know if/who he married? etc

1841 - I cant see Alfred at present and we don't know if he is still in Eastbourne or has moved to Mylor (or is anywhere else for that matter)
There is this Rollason family in Eastbourne who may or may not be connected

you would need a copy of Alfred marriage cert to find the name and occupation of his father.
But - if you are wanting pictures of Eastbourne "in their time" it appears it will be at least pre 1851 that is relevant, maybe even earlier.

details of his marriage are on the opc database. Alfred Rollason shepherd married Elizabeth Collins in Mylor 6 June 1847, his father Thomas also a shepherd, hers James a farmer.

THe Hellingly family is looking good then.
So he moves between 1841 and 1851!

There had been a child before Mary, Alfred Thomas Rollason was buried in Mylor 14 May 1848 aged 10 months

There are trees on Ancestry that have his parents as Thomas Rollason and Hannah Kemp. However, they have his baptism as 25 July 1824 in Ewhurst, East Sussex.

I guess when you move a long way away, you would tend to give your place of birth as the nearest big town (in this case Eastbourne) rather than the specific village.
Tornedo was online earlier -I hope he/she has seen all this and found it useful.
