Hi
I have the burial registry reference from findmypast for several graves. What is the next step for locating them. Can I just turn up at the cemetery?
-
Have you tried findagrave.com
FindMyPast burials are often linked to findagrave
If you go there and type in the name of the Cemetery, you can then search that cemetery by name. You may be lucky - but you can also request a photo - might have a bit of a wait, as the photos are taken by volunteers.
You can also try billion graves.com
Might save you a trip!

No they are not on find a grave.... and I am actually here for the trip!

Yes, you can just arrive at the cemetery. I think that many of them have either a cemetery plan, or an office, to make location easier. Good luck :) Groundsmen are also usually very helpful.

Got to Witton today and they were most helpful and found them seeing I had the registry reference but the lady in the office said it should normally be done by email.

That's great Aussie Possum! I've gone to UK from NZ a few times, and done the cemetery rounds too! It's a really special moment to be standing at the burial places of your ancestors! Were you fortunate enough in that there was a headstone! Hope so for you!

Very pleased you got a result. It makes it all worthwhile :) :)

Mixed results. Some I knew were common graves so it was only the spot could find. One should have had a headstone but it had been demolished to make way for a railway. :(
Better luck in Weston Super Mare.... found a gravestone when I wasn't expecting there to be one!
And I can't speak highly enough of the gardeners. They were extremely helpful on both occasions.
