Title: Maynard Allen Paul
Post by: fortitude on Saturday 14 May 16 16:43 BST (UK)
Looking for info on Mary McMahon, who married Maynard Allen Paul, a Canadian soldier, Aug.19,1941 in Glasgow. Maynard Paul died in hospital in England, Jan.2,1942. Would like to find her parents or if she remarried, any information would be appreciated.

You would be wise to order a copy of their 1941 marriage registration from Scotlands People http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

The reason I'm suggesting this is it will tell you everything you need plus more.  The birth cut off date for viewing images is 1915 and marriages 1939.

The marriage certificate won't tell you whether she remarried or when and where she died. There is no death of a Mary McMahon, other surname Paul, in the Scottish deaths indexes. If she died in Scotland, she should have been indexed under both those surnames as well as that of any subsequent husband, but it is possible that her first husband's surname was omitted if the informant did not know about her brief marriage to Maynard Paul.

The first thing to do is get the marriage certificate as Don suggests. Use the information in that to find her birth, and once you have her year of birth you can search the index for her death. She may not have died in Scotland, of course.

If she was born less than 100 years ago or died less than 50 years ago you cannot view the certificate online, so it might be worth getting a professional searcher who can transcribe all three certificates.

There might be a newspaper intimation of the marriage making reference to her parents.

Possible marriage in Partick 1947 to a Stapleton under the name Mary Paul

But there is no listing of Mary McMahon marrying Stapleton in 1947, so it can't be Mary McMahon or Paul, who would have been indexed under both surnames.
