I came up with that one too but was wondering if there are anymore Leon Allison with the same birth date in the USA
-
There is no national birth registry in the United States [births are registered by the individual states] so it is virtually impossible to answer that question with the information that is available online.
-
oh right that makes things so hard wish there was a national register lol
-
Ah, I take it you are not a federalist at heart.
-
I don't know what federalist is. In England we have national registers for births marriages and deaths, which makes it very easy to search for people countrywide
-
"very easy to search for people countrywide"
True. On the other hand, we have censuses freely available [and not copyrighted] up to 1940.
The 1940 census lists eight people named Leon Allison born between 1930 and 1932 - one each in Alabama, Missouri, Indiana, Arkansas, Tennessee and South Carolina and two in Texas. You can see them here:

thanks the one born in Tennessee is the only black person so he is a possible
-
glad the 1939 register is now available for England great to find your family on it. It was done just before WW2.
-
Are you specifically looking for a Leon Allison with that birth date or just one born around that time? Is there any other information you have that would lead to knowing if he is the right man?
If the one mentioned above was the right man, the Find a Grave entry gives a place of birth of Nashville, Tennessee. You could ask the person who gave the information if they have any basis for that.
Otherwise, for anyone on the Social Security Death Index or for whom you have a Social Security number, for a fee you can order their original Social Security application as explained here - http://www.legalgenealogist.com/blog/2013/05/31/ordering-the-ss-5/

"he is a possible"
What makes you think that he is not the individual you are looking for? The name, nationality, birth date, race and military service are all correct. No other person has been found who meets all of those criteria. Sure, it is remotely possible that another such person exists or existed but was missed on the 1940 census or his race or age was incorrectly recorded. That's a real long shot, though.
-
yes I am specifically looking for the Leon Allison with that birthdate. But this is ONLY because I found a Leon Allison on the immigration and emigration records around the times 1951 to 1953 ,I had no knowledge of his birthdate before I saw this person on immigration/emigration records.I was told he left England to go back to the the USA around march 4th 1953.I got the birthdate from the troop ship records underneath that leon allisons name.Problem was that he told people he was from New jersey , but then again the troop ship seems to be either returning to or coming from Fort Dix I think it said on record. So am thinking now he did not mean he was born new jersey but that he had come from New jersey?I know he was black definetly and for a time when he was here he was stationed at Burtonwood base near Warrington England.I just want to be sure I am following the correct person and that he is the one on the troop ship in march 1953 returning home.
-
Also I cannot check on his social security number as it doesn't seem to be on records on ancestry so I don't know
-
On the Social Security Application transcription, it says he was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He may have been born under the name Leon Walker, as the application says his mother was Arnadia Walker, but no father was listed.
-
yes I saw that application on ancestry on the 1940 census quoted his father is down as frank Allison .I think there was a date of 1945 on the application.I am following that family at the moment purely because birthdate matches the emigration/immigration record
-
I think that application also had leon walker/leon Allison?
-
I believe with births its by state in the US is it the same for marriages by state as I tried to find a marriage of the mother and father but couldnt
-
"is it the same for marriages by state"
Yes, birth, marriage and death certificates are issued by and recorded by the states. Deaths of those who have a social security number [pretty much all adults] appear in the national Social Security Death Index.
-
thank you
-
Surely ALL States have births and deaths registered by the State but Marriages by the County?
-
Surely ALL States have births and deaths registered by the State but Marriages by the County?
No, that's not the case everywhere. For example, New York City handles its own vital records. Where you can find vital records also depends on the time frame. This site seems to give a good overview of vital records by state/location. https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/United_States_Vital_Records

Found a marriage of Arnadia walker to Frank Allison in 1934 Davidson Tennessee .So it looks like when Leon Allison born in 1931 they not married. May have been too young but could mean Frank Allison not his father
