Hi,
I'm trying to find a William Howard in the 1841 census in Upwell. If he's there he'll be roughly 80 years old.Unfortunately I don't know if he was born in the county. Can anyone help?

Can't see one that old in Upwell - any family members he may have been living with?

Hi,
I've only recently started to properly trace this line of my tree so I've only trace my direct line thoroughly.
He's not with his only surviving son Thomas .His 2 surving daughters Mary b 1790 and Ann b 1803 both in Upwell have most likely married.
Sorry I can't help any more.I'ts probable that he died but not definite, his grandson lived to 96!

My goodness you are searching in the bad lands. I used to hate the drive down from Wisbech, fretting if my old banger would break down in the middle nowhere.
Try surrounding parishes:

Hi,
its a pity Howard is such a common name round those parts, makes it difficult to sort them out!
Coggeshall might be too far from Outwell but you never know. They were in the Outwell/upwell area area by 1788 when there 1st child was baptised(Bishops Transcript) and late as 1803 when their last child was baptised. He married in West Dereham in 1788 although I cant find him there even though there are Howards in West Dereham around then(perhaps I missed him?)I found Williams of around the right date and nearby ,such as Great Massingham 1765,Denver,1752,Mattishall Burgh 1750,Kings Lynn 1755,Hockering 1758,Congham 1758,Stanhoe 1756.All of these seemed probable as they didn't have a burial or I couldn't find a marriage that fitted them later on.Its at times like this you wish theyd started registration(not just at church)and census much earlier.Would have made all our lives easier :)
