Hi Rootschatters,
Hope you've all had a lovely bank holiday weekend :)
I'm trying to find more information about the family of Mary WHENHAM (or Wenham) who married Samuel ELPHICK in Pevensey, 20 May 1760.
There's a baptism record for Mary WENHAM in Pevensey, 6 Oct 1737, with parents William and Mary.
There are other baptisms for the children of William and Mary... However I think there was more than one William Wenham in town, so I might be getting a bit tangled...
1726 - Mary (*died 1729)
1737 - Mary
1735 - Jane (*died 1738)
1740 - Jane
1742 - William (*died 1752)
1745 - John
These were all in Pevensey. I'd expect a marriage record for William & Mary around 1726 but haven't yet found it. Can anyone help me track that down?
Thank you!

There is also a marriage for William Wenham of Pevensey to Mary Ade at Hollington 12 Aug 1735 by licence.
Could it be that the first Mary died? That first marriage to Mary Holman is shown as being in 1726 on the Sussex Marriage Index but of course dates are odd then as it is prior to the calendar change so the year started from March.
The marriage in 1714 in Pevensey is for William Wenham of Westham to Jane White. Doubtful if they are parents of someone who married in 1726 though.

I couldn't see a marriage for William and Jane, but that marriage confirms they are not the likely parents of William.
Maybe worth looking at the burial records between 1725-35 see if there is a record for a Mary Wenham there
