Hello, I am looking for any information on William S. Lea, my great grandfather, I think. I think he was from either Liverpool in England or London, England. I would think he was born around the 1860's. If anyone can help me get started on this search, I would appreciate it very much as I have wondered for many years about my background.

Ok I'm guessing that Eliza from your previous post is Williams wife ?
on that premise I looked for a Lea / Maxwell marriage.
I cannot find a William S Lea marrying an Elizabeth Maxwell but there is a marriage in Everton, Lancashire, England between William Alfred Lea and an Eliza Maxwell - 12 Jul 1885
Could these be yours ?

:) Thank you so much. I believe you have found the marriage date of my great grandparents! Thank you so much! I know of three children born to them: Margaret, born about 1887 in Liverpool; Claude Maxwell, born about 1892 in Liverpool; and my grandfather, William Alfred Maddocks, born about 1903 in London. I'm wondering if there were any others? Claude Maxwell and William Alfred emigrated to the U.S. in 1920. I know that Margaret never came here. She sent my mother a lace tablecloth as a wedding present and something for me when I was born. How can I find living Lea relatives in England or Ireland?

HI Cindy
If this is your family I have Eliza and the 3 children on the 1911 census in Ireland although Claude is mis-transcribed as Clandian Maxwell. You should be able to see the original here http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001514230/ (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001514230/)
More info here http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001514190/ (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001514190/)
In 1901 - WILLIAM A, LILIAN, MARGARET, CLAUDIAN M Lea are in West Ham, Essex. William is listed as a traveler born in 1863 in Wem, Shropshire, England. The others born in Liverpool. I have viewed the image and Claudian is what is written on the actual census return.
In 1891 - I have Margaret in West Derby with her grandparents Patrick - a builder (born c1840) and Eliza (born C1830) Maxwell. Both born in Ireland. I have yet to locate the rest of the family but I'll keep looking

On the basis of what you have said I have found Claude Maxwell Lea (28 - an Engineer) and William Alfred Maddocks Lea (16 - no Occupation given) leaving Glasgow on the 16th of April 1920 aboard the ULUA.
If you set up a free account with the Liberty Ellis Island foundation here http://www.libertyellisfoundation.org/ (http://www.libertyellisfoundation.org/)

Here's the link to the transcribed page of the 1911 census so that we can see exactly where in Ireland they were living at the time-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Shankill/Tennent_Street/177797
It says Eliza was married 25 years and had 3 children (all living).
In the 1910 directory for Belfast there's a Lilian Lea (dress maker) at 239 Tennant St. (Eliza Lea and family living at #240 in the census- which should be on the opposite side of the street) but by 1918 directory a John Robinson is listed at 239.
http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk/alphanames1910L.htm
In 1918, after 230 Tennant St. is Edenderry Terrace & at #6 is "Lea, Mrs. L., costumier" (by 1932 she's not listed at that address)
Claud M. Lea, son of William A., married 16 Aug.1919 Belfast to Florence Garnett
Margaret Lea, daughter of William A., married 20 Jan.1915 Belfast to John W. Rea

Thanks to Google I've found that another member, wrjones, was previous looking for this same Lea family (lots of replies including some details we've posted here)-

There's a death 16 May 1945 for an Eliza Lea, age 83, Coleraine district (Portstewart sub-district). This is the only Lea death in the Coleraine district from 1910-1969. You can view the certificate on GRONI's site after purchasing a few credits.

Hi Cindy
I have found Eliza / Lillian on the 1930 US Census living with Claude, Florence and their 2 children Lloyd (8 ) and John (7) in Hammond City, Indiana.
It appears she moved with Claude and Florence in 1920 and remained there. She gives her date of immigration as 1920 and is working as a sales lady in a clothing store.
There is also a travel document Showing Lillian and Lloyd returning to the US after visiting Margaret in Ireland in July 1926. She is described as returning to her son Claude Lea, she is a permanent US resident in Michigan City, Indiana. She is described as 5ft 2inches in good health with a pale complexion, gray hair and gray eyes.
There is an address for Margaret too. it says Daughter, Mrs Madge Rae, Warren Villa, Lodge Road, Coleraine.
will keep digging
Hope this helps
