Title: John Smith & Eliza (Preece)
Post by: Welsh Girl on Sunday 24 April 16 08:58 BST (UK)
I'm not sure if this is the right board to post this on .... but due to the common Surname (and Christian names) ... I wonder if anyone on this brilliant board is linked to this line please?

John is the Brother of my GGF (James Smith) who, like John, moved from Kington to South Wales for the mining work.

Please delete if not appropriate, but here's hoping ....

Do you have any dates?
And place names? I.E. where was he born, where did he live?

I presume that you are referring to Kington in Herefordshire?

Hi .. Yes, sorry - Kington Hereford.

John was born 1857 in Kington.  he married Eliza Preece 1886, registered in Knighton.

I have been able to follow them through the census years, until the 1911 census where they are living in Hirwaun.

My GGF is living in Byron Street, Aberdare on the 1901 census, and John is living at 48, Incline Row, Aberdare.  My GGF moved down to Tirphil, but it looks like John and family stayed put ....

I know one of his Daughters married a William Tobin and had a Son called James.  She died in 1912.
Katie Married Arthur Nash and died in 1970.

hard going this line ....

Hi. I hope you are well. I'd guess that you are looking for ancestors as opposed to descendants, but Ive just updated my wife's tree and she descends from John Smith and Eliza Preece via their daughter Katie and her marriage to Arthur Nash 1921. I have some details of the Nash line if you are interested in relations down that line. All the best, Colin Ingham, Buckinghamshire...
