The 1 month for a £1 offer seems to be back again - discount code ANCESTRY16. Worked for me.
-
Is it still on offer as I can't access it.
Maureen
-
Yes Maureen it still seems to be available.
-
I tried yesterday, it said discount code no longer valid. :(
But got £1 for a month on BNA after reading a tip on here. :)
-
"Discount code is no longer valid" is the message I received. :-\
-
I'm still getting "Discount code successfully applied." Very strange.
-
Have just managed to get the £1 offer by going through the Genealogy discount code site.
Maureen
-
Do you have a link you could post please?
Annie
-
www.genealogydiscount.co.uk
It has all the different web sites.
Maureen
-
For some reason it won't show up on my message?
Try putting in genealogy and then discount.

Hi All
The correct code is ANCESTRYHOUR16, Just subscribed successfully directly with FindMyPast.

Hi All
The correct code is ANCESTRYHOUR16, Just subscribed successfully directly with FindMyPast.
That didn't work for me. I signed into my account and tried to subscribe but code is not valid.
-
Hi
It wouldn't work for me either :-\

Try this.
Maureen
-
Just tried putting the link in again and it won't show up, I guess it's not allowed!
Maureen
-
Oops sorry. I'm positive I typed the HOUR bit into the code. Don't know where it went! 😳
-
Hi All
The correct code is ANCESTRYHOUR16, Just subscribed successfully directly with FindMyPast.
Just worked for me ;D ;D ;D
Frank.
-
You must have the magic touch :)
It still wont work for me
claire
-
It just worked for me too! Very odd, as it didn't work a couple of days ago.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Strange that, I can't see why it's happening for some and not for others :-\

A win's a win Ruskie, however we get it ;) :)
Frank.
-
Blimey Done it ;D ;D ;D ;D
Used my sons card though, you men have your uses ;) ;)
claire
-
I had problems with it and then a few days later it worked.
-
It worked for me as well today :) but it didn't the other day.
-
I copied the code from plk74's post & pasted into the discount code box & got the " code no longer valid" message.
I checked that the code was correctly entered into the box & realised that there were a couple of spaces between the code & the left side of the box, so backspaced & this time the discount was accepted. Not the first time I've had problems with copy & paste like this.
Thank you to sustev for the original post :)
Betty
-
Oops, sorry BettyofKent and any others that pasted from my post, I do normally check for spaces.
-
No need to apologise, plk74, it wasn't your fault. I've noticed this problem before, no matter that I put the cursor in the right place, some boxes/websites insist on placing the pasted item several spaces in.
Copy & paste is supposed to be quicker, but not always with some sites!
-
I wonder if that was my problem then, I never thought to check that. Like BettyofKent says it's quicker to Copy &Paste.
No problem plk74 :)

Where do I register, the monthly sub perhaps? What bit of findmypast do I say I want to subscribe to in order to use the code?
update: OK, I have done it. Thanks for the alert.
-
Log into your account with email address and password, select "subscribe", put the code into the box (on bottom right), then you are taken to the payment page which should give the cost as £1.
After you complete the payment details, go to Your Account (top right) and make sure you 'untick' the autorenewal then update (I think it is update). If you don't do this you will be charged the full amount next month.
Added: I see you have sorted it as I am typing this. Don't forget to untick autorenewal. :)
-
Just a quick thanks Ruskie... I'd not unticked the autorenewal button.
Sorted :)
claire

Sorted :)
claire
... and did you "update" as well? ;)
I think they're a bit sneaky in hoping people will neglect to untick autorenewal, and then the added step of clicking on "update" gives a couple of opportunities for people to get stung with an autopayment. I think they should not have any boxes ticked and leave it up to the customer to tick if they wish to set up autorenewal payments.
-
Yes, clicked update ;D
Thank-you
-
;D
-
Thanks for the reminder, ruskie, I had forgotten to untick the auto renewal button, now sorted (& I clicked update) ;D
Betty
-
Thanks, I updated auto-renewal, and then went back and checked it.
-
Thank you everyone for this post. I thought maybe the FindMyPast Offer had expired by now but it just worked for me.
I wanted to research my Rutland family a little more and now I'm able to do it straightaway.

I managed to get another month on Find My Past for £1 using the code ANCESTRYHOUR16
My subs ran out 30th May and I thought I would try the code to see if it works and it did,so that saves me a bit more for this month LOL.
Maureen :) :) :)
-
Thanks Maureen, I've just used the code and it seems to work - much to my amazement!
Brilliant.
Melbell
-
It has just worked again for me too! Thank you Maureen! ;D
My last £1 subscription ended yesterday, so this is very timely.
(Mind you I did not use FindMyPast at all last month :-[ I hope I manage to use it this time.)
-
It's worked for me too, thank you Maureen ;D
-
Worked for me as well. Thankyou very much.
-
Many thanks, I've just got it as well ;D ;D ;D
Frank.
-
Missed it :( :( :(
Sarra
-
It's still working for me. Thanks for the heads up!
-
A Query - I have got this offer but seem able to view only a few records free. Is this right, or am I missing something please?
N.B. This is not a moan or a criticism. I'm very thankful for everything that comes free-of-charge!
Melbell
-
You should be able to see everything except the 1939 records.
-
Gone back in and it's now working for me.
Sorry to waste everybody's time.
Thanks for replying Ceryswyn.

Just managed to get another month on F.M.P For£1 using the code ANCESTRYHOUR16 thought I would let everyone know it worked for me today, glad it did as my £1 sub's from last month ran out yesterday.
-
Cheers will have another try myself I think :D
-
Hi, many thanks, my month ends tomorrow and I just got another month for £1 ;D
Frank.
-
My subscription ended yesterday and I was able to get another month for £1!
Thanks for letting us know Maureen.
I would never have thought to try the code again - it seems a bit overly generous of them so I suspect there is some kind of bug in the system to allow further £1 subscriptions. ;D
I'm not complaining though ...
-
I only tried it to see if it did work again, hope it work's next month :D
-
Thankyou. :)
-
Thank you. I also managed to use the discount code again for another month. I had been offered a discount of 50% for one month but your notification came through today.
Don't forget to untick the auto-renew box folks.
There must be some advantage to FindMyPast. Just imagine that several £1 subscriptions are better than none at all.
Judy
-
I just tried and unfortunately ANCESTRYHOUR16 is no longer available. Should have done it last night but only found the post when I was tired and shutting down.
-
Have you previously taken advantage of the £1 offer AlannaGrace?
I found that I had to do things in the correct order (I did it the wrong way the first time and they were going to charge me the full £9.95)
On the subscription page, you have to enter the code first, then click 'apply' (or whatever the word is).
That will take you to a screen that says the code was successfully applied.
Then you will see that the monthly cost is £1 instead of £9.99. Select the £1 subscription and then go through the payment process.
Where I went wrong the first time, was I selected the £9.99 subscription first, then entered the code. That doesn't work, and asks you to pay the full £9.99.
So maybe thats where you went wrong? Or, maybe they have stopped the special offer as they discovered an influx of £1 subscriptions. :)
-
Just worked fine for me....thanks, this will come in handy!
-
Hi, just to let you know, it's still working, just follow Ruskie's advice ;D
Frank.
-
Find my Past seems to have had a lot of price offers, free days etc recently. It seems a little unfair to those of us who have invested in full subscriptions.

I see what you are saying, I subscribe to Ancestry, I don't think they have many offers to be honest, I just use the offers on Find my Past as and when they come up.
Frank.

That tells you that not enough people are investing in full subscriptions....which is probably because they are overpriced. You should speak to their customer service and request some recompense. That is what I would do.
-
I have a yearly sub. I get days added on to my expiry date for all the free days that they have.
-
Any subscription website has a finite number of subscribers and the need to replace the members who fulfill their objectives becomes necessary. Hence the offers. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. Just Marketing 2016.
-
Thank you for the updates to say this offer is still working.
I just used ANCESTRYHOUR16 and it worked for me.
-
And for me.
Many thanks Ruskie and all. :-*

not worked for me

Did you follow Ruskie's instructions ???
Sandra
-
It has just worked for me, following Ruskie's instructions ;). I'm a little disappointed that the 1939 Register isn't included, I had a few more people to track down when my 12 month sub ran out recently. Beggars can't be choosers I suppose.
-
Yeah !!!!! !!!!!! Tried again and it worked Thanks Sandra x

Do your local libraries have access to Find My Past? Our do and we can go into the library and get free access on their computers. You can sign into your Find My Past Account use the 1939 Register.

Excellent - like to see everyone getting a bargain ;D
Sandra

You can Browse the 1939 register with the £1 subs. If you are looking for someone in rural districts I've found you can usually locate them in a few minutes, for London and large urban districts with lots of Piece Numbers it can take, say, half an hour.
The procedure for going about it is as follows (entry 13 in this thread):

I'm surprised at this - wouldn't your user account settings take precedence when you login and lock you out of the 1939, even though you are accessing FindMyPast at a library?

It works when I use it! (I don't remember if I had a monthly subscription or none at the time but I think I did, hence why I went to the library to follow it up). I was pleasantly surprised.

Hi AngelFish, our local library doesn't offer access to FindMyPast, only Ancestry which I have a sub for anyway. I will wait until FindMyPast offer a good discount on a 12 month sub to search the 1939 again. I got 50% discount last time and recently missed their 20% off deal because I was on holiday ::). I can wait, I have plenty of other things to search for ;D
-
Just a reminder to turn off continuous membership if you have taken up this offer or they will automatically renew at full cost next month.
I notice that Ruskie has already pointed this out earlier in the thread, but I completely forgot to do it myself until just now so I wanted to make sure others didn't overlook it too ;)
Go to "My Account" then "Personal Details", scroll to bottom and turn it off. Don't forget to click "update"
-

Thanks. I forgot too.
-
A bit sneaky to have the autorenew automatically ticked in my opinion. ;) I know they all do it, but I don't like it.
Then there are more chances to mess up by hiding it under "my account" then "personal details" - I don't think this should be under "personal details".
And yet another chance to mess up by having to click "update"! I bet a lot of people forget to do that. ::)
-
Well I thought I'd be cheeky again and see if ANCESTRYHOUR16 would still give a months sub to FindMyPast ....and it worked ;D ;D
Happy days :)
-
Claire, thanks for that!
My one month sub ended yesterday, and I was just trying to find this thread to see if the code still worked, so your post is perfect timing.
(Mind you I only used FindMyPast about three times in the last month .... ::) )
-
Ohhhh...Ruskie,
Perfect timing...someone up above looking after you ;D
Still worth it for the price just in case :P
Annie
-
Definitely worth it! There have been times when I haven't even got my £1 worth (ie looked up nothing!) but you never know when it might come in handy. ;D
-
Thanks
-
I just successfully purchased my month subscription for £1.
I noticed that the unsubscribe has changed in the four weeks since I last used it. You used to be able to select the unsubscribe box at the bottom of the page and then click on 'update'. This time it took me to another page - it looked complicated, and the process is slightly different and a bit confusing. No doubt done intentionally to muddle people! >:(
Just make sure you check your emails as they instantly send you an email saying that you have selected "unsubscribe". If you do not instantly receive this, go back to your account and try to work out how to unsubscribe. ::)
-
Yes I found it a little more complicated than usual, an extra page of waffle and then right at the bottom of my page "are you sure you want to unsubscribe? "
But I got there in the end ::)
Phew!!

I am currently subscribed & will check if anything has changed on my "unsubscribe"
I feel sorry for people with difficulties whether reading, eyesight etc. etc.
A ploy it seems to get your £ & a fly move when they make it almost impossible to find where to unsubscribe.

It worked again :D
Just successfully purchased another months sub with FindMyPast using ANCESTRYHOUR16
Oh the joys of genealogy :)
