Hi all
I am looking for evidence of my maternal great grandparents in Chicago Illinois. I cannot find evidence of their journey to the US from Ireland. (I have evidence of their return in 1899.) Also looking for evidence of their 3 children born in Chicago Catherine 1894, Elizabeth and Norah. (The daughters returned to the US - New York _ in the 1920s)
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
Welcome to Rootschat :)
On Family Search there is Catherine Doody's marriage record 19 Oct 1919, Manhattan, New York to Frank H. Barber. Her birthplace is recorded as Chicago, Ill. (1894).
Also on Family Search Nora's death record (18 Jul 1928) has her birthplace as Ill.

Hi have you seen this marriage Daniel Doody age 27
Married 15/10/1891 Chicago Cook
Anna Kane age 25 ?

There is a Dan(ie)l Doody age 28 leaving on 6th September 1891 from the port of Queenstown, Ireland for New York on the Umbria. (Showing on Ancestry)
How many years married does the 1911 census have them, and if it does not fit with that marriage found, have you got an alternative one?

Is this the family in 1911?

Yes this looks like the family also in the 1901 census in Ireland

There is a Johanna Kane travelling on the 20th April 1891 from Queenstown to New York on the Chicago, as a servant, age not specified, ticket number 8208.
Immediately below her on the list are Mary and Bgt Keane, ages not specified, also servants, but different ticket number (8209) so possibly different surname and not related.

If Johanna Kane was born in Castlegregory in 1866 with parents Patrick Kane and Johanna (Callaghan), then does not appear to have a sister Mary but there is one called Bridget in 1880.
