Title: William Casemore Knibbs
Post by: Shogmoor on Sunday 17 April 16 15:34 BST (UK)
I have put this out in the hope someone else may be chasing the same name. William Casemore Knibbs was born in Quainton, England in 1863. He married Sarah Elizabeth Hunter in Queensland on 10th February 1888. I have found them on several census returns. I have been told - but cannot confirm - that they had a child Queenie Elizabth in 1898 who went on to marry Alfred J. Passmore. They also had a son called James, but have no dates. I cannot find out much more about them.

On the Index there is no "S" on the end of Williams name it is shown as KNIBB.
Marriage Ref # 1888   C1685 The "C" is all areas outside of Brisbane.

The only child to the couple on the index is Queenie and her full name on the INDEX is
Queenie Isabella Ref # C11617. This is up to 1916. She was born 7th June 1898.

The following shows marriages in Queensland only for the Surname KNIBB up to the extent of the indexes in 1941. I won't post names as many could still be alive.

What is the source of your information please.

Sarah Elizabeth HUNTER was born c1846 and died 1923 in Brisbane Qld age 77. Ref # B39721 her parents were John and Isabel HUNTER. Her age when she had Queenie 1898 would have had to had been 52 years? It also says born Queensland.

On the indexes there is a death of a Ann KNIBB in 1899 born circa 1833 father William Caseman(sic)

Brisbane, 4th May, 1922. At Peace. (Inserted by Queenie Passmore.)

I wonder Debra if William and Sarah were possibly estranged and he; William was living with his future bride ???

Could the 4th May 1922 have been a misprint ::) as I just did. The notice was placed in 1923. No loving daughter either. Umm late notification of her death on index ???

Obit for William KNIBBS, d 22 November 1937 at Charters Towers.  Gives a good account of his life, mentions only his second wife, one daughter - Queenie - and a stepson.

Sarah KNIBB's parents are given as James HUNTER and Isabel on the Qld death index, also states that she was born in Qld.

Possibly an earlier child for Sarah, before her marriage  :-\
QLd Death 1880   C2409
Isabella HUNTER, mother: Sarah Elizabeth HUNTER ** born Queensland aged 1 month

Queenie Isabel Naomi King is the adopted daughter of William Casemore Knibbs and Sarah Elizabeth Hunter. Her parents are Frederick James King and Alice Naomi Berry. She was born and was raised in Mt Morgan. Queenie was adopted by family friends and remained close to her biological family.
