Title: Death record and burial for Thomas Smith, after 1851 census Innkeeper Hartlepool
Post by: creamolafoam on Thursday 14 April 16 01:13 BST (UK)
Really puzzled with this one ??? Have posted in past hoping someone would be able to throw some light on where he disappeared to?  After 1851 census we lose him as Innkeeper from Waterloo Inn, 23 Prissick Street, Hartlepool and his wife (Anne Kirkley) remarries in 1857 as his widow on certificate of new marriage in Hartlepool and moves to Scotland with her new husband John Macmillan and Thomas Smith's young son (also Thomas Smith, my 3x great grandfather) He keeps his father's name all his life.  No record I can find of death date or burial info or MI?

A family tree has his death in 1852 Witton le Wear but I guess you would have to take a chance on a death certificate to be sure.

Thomas Smith not a good name to pick the right one either  :-\

Would Stockton be the right registration district for where they were in 1851?

If so there are two deaths in Jun 1852

10a 43 and 10a 16

It would be useful to know which death certificates you have obtained, for elimination purposes

Hartlepool was in the Stockton Registration District 1837-1859

Have obtained one Death Certificate which I thought was Thomas Smith (1821) for Hartlepool  1852 but criteria did not match. Different parent, address, occupation. male age 29years. (Cause of death) Scarletina.  ???
