Hi
This picture is of 2 of the sons of my Husbands GG Grandfather, he had 2 that were in the Police and 2 that were Prison Warders.
Can anyone identify and confirm that these 2 were the Prison Warders? The picture would of been taken approx. 1890's. They were both at HMP Wandsworth and one of them was the Principal/Chief Warder (one on left has braided collar and sleeve?)
Sadly there is nothing written on the back.
very grateful for any help
Chris

Hi :) , I'll start the ball rolling, based only on the fact that I have seen some prison warder buttons with a crown in the center, and on enlarging the picture the man on the left seems to have crowns on his buttons,I would say yes, he is a prison warden.
However, someone with a lot more knowledge than me will be along shortly I would expect to give you a definite yes or no.
Frank.

Hi Chris,
Don't forget to add the family surname to your heading (if you know them)
