Greetings, and a warm welcome to Rootschat.

I am not clear if you are seeking information and, if so, what it is we can help you with.

Do you need to know where to look for back issues of the newspaper?

All the best
Philip

Hello Mia,

I have just moved your post to Lancashire as I recognised it was concerning Manchester.

For this time period I do not know of any ways to narrow down the search, if it had been between 1870-1903 they would have been indexed and searchable on the British Newspaper Archive.

Regards

Sarah

On Manchester Library website it say the following:

We hold a large collection of school records for the Manchester area. Surviving admission registers c.1870-c.1916 for Manchester schools are now available on findmypast. Free access is available at any of our libraries.

Note they say 'Surviving Admission Registers'

So it maybe that (as usual) the records you want have not survived, or they were not copied by findmypast because they were in to poor a condition to be photocopied?

A visit to Manchester Central Library may get a definative answer.
