I'm trying to research the Hillocks who came from this area.
My 4x great-grandfather was James Hillock who married Ellen Keating on the 20 April 1829 in Derrynoose, Armagh. I am quite sure they were Roman Catholic. As for their birth or death dates, I don't know.
Their children were:
- Mary b. 1830
- James b. 1832
- John b. 1837
- Patrick b. 1839
- Michael b. 1842
- Francis b. 1844
I know of the descendants of James and Patrick (They both moved to Scotland, however, James went back to Ireland). However, I don't know what became of the rest of the family
I'm interested to see if any of you could help me with the either the ancestors of James and Ellen Hillock or the descendants.
Thanks, Laurence

Hi. Am also struggling with Hillock from this area. My great great grandmother was called Matilda Hillock. She was married to my great great grandfather Francis Mullen. I have not found any marriage record and don't know any names for her relatives. All the children were baptised RC

She probably would have been married before 1852 as this is the date she had her first child.
Children were
Mary Ann Mullen 1852
Eliza 1854
Bridget 1859
Daniel 1861
Matilda 1864
John 1869
Mary 1872
I didn't see any other hillocks as god parents in the baptism records which made me think she either wasn't from the area or maybe was a convert.

If she was a convert then there might be a baptism for her shortly before the marriage (have seen some the same day as wedding ceremony).

Have been looking but haven't came across anything yet.

Mary Ann Mullen baptised May 1852 so I would continue looking back through baptisms for a few years and then start looking at the marriages in the register-
