Title: CLOTWORTHY DOBBIN DEVITT C.1790 - ANTRIM
Post by: maggie2005 on Tuesday 05 April 16 15:45 BST (UK)
From the English Census records my 3 x great grandfather Clotworthy Dobbin Devitt was born in Antrim around 1790 and his father was stated as James a Farmer on his marriage to Jane Willats 07/06/1851

Clotworthy's first marriage was to Jane Buck at St Mary's Dublin in 1816 and they had 10 children.  Jane died in 1832 with Cholera.  I have traced 4 children who were living in England and John Furlong Devitt b.1824 is my 2 x great grandfather.
Anna Maria b.1823
John Furlong b.1824
Daughter b.1827
Alicia b.1831
Walter Worthy b.1824
All of these children were born in Dublin

I had wondered if there was any connection to the beer of that name Clotworthy Dobbin, just seems like a coincidence with the name, but not knowing when that beer was originally brewed although it would appear that this beer was being brewed in the late 1700's, but I am not sure of this.

Any information would be more that welcome, I have just hit a dead end when it comes to Irish historical records on the internet.

Regards
Maggie
