Title: Who was the Wife and Mother?
Post by: Gillian1302 on Thursday 31 March 16 15:50 BST (UK)
Hugh Richard Carmichael was born in 1790 in Dublin.
He became a well known Dublin surgeon whose daughter (Marguerite b.1840, sister to Helen Antoinette Marie, Elizabeth Hope and Hugh) married the famous Barrister and governor of Australia, Butler Cole Aspinall - but who was the French lady who was wife to Hugh Richard Carmichael and mother to Marguerite). My search has covered many years to no avail, can you help?
Thanks ???

Is she not named in his will?  Have you looked for the death of a woman with a [possibly] French given name and Carmichael surname around any likely dates?

Welcome to Rootschat Gillian1302

This is a LINK (http://www.rds.ie/cat_historic_member_detail.jsp?itemID=1102096&item_name=) to a reference in the RDS

It refers to his French wife

It also states that Hugh Richard Carmichael is buried in St. Patrick's Cathedral
Have you checked if his wife was buried with him?

when you ask for the mother of Marguerite, do you imply that there were two marriages or just that this is you interest?

It doesn't say he was a widower at the time he died
