The London Gazette of May 20th 1902 has a notice of the dissolving of a partnership between John Elystan Lloyd and Richard Alfred Lloyd 'Detectives and Mercantile Agents' at 110 St. Martin's-lane in the County of London. Richard Alfred Lloyd is noted as carrying on the business.
I am looking for any information about these two gentlemen after this date.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hello,
There is a probate record for John who died in 1935, Weston Super Mare. Do you have that?
Regards
Heywood

Heywood,
I don't have that. Can you give me the address so I can look it up in the 1939 register?
Thanks.

He died in 1935 so he wouldn't be in 1939 register.
However he lived at 27 Upper Park Road and died at 92 Quantock Rd both Weston Super Mare.
He left £17000+ which was £11000+ net according to a newspaper report.

Have you looked in 1911 census for the men?
There is a 1909 article where Richard Alfred Lloyd, a private inquiry agent residing Sidcup was injured in a road accident and was claiming damages.
It mentions that he had been decorated by the French, Turkish and Austrian governments for work he had done for the embassies.

I was going to have a look to see whether the family still lived at the property. Was the beneficiary in the Will a family member?
Thanks.

That information is not given. I think a bank was the administrator.
The newspaper article states that he left £10 to Dr Barnardos Homes.

Yes you have found the correct Richard Alfred Lloyd. I had seen this report.
He was living in Sidcup in Kent in 1911.
Family don't seem to be living in the same address in 1939.
Can't find his death in Kent?

That is a definite possibility for his death. I will pursue this and the information on the 1911 census.
Thanks for your help.

I realise it is some time since there was any activity on this thread, but I wondered if anyone had been successful in finding out more information? I came across Richard Alfred Lloyd through his role in "The Edwards Mystery" where he found a woman who had gone missing from Liverpool and cashed in on what was probably a little bit of luck. The relevant part of the story is at https://victoriancrimeandotherstories.home.blog/2019/11/16/mr-lloyd-investigates (https://victoriancrimeandotherstories.home.blog/2019/11/16/mr-lloyd-investigates) for anyone who is researching Mr Lloyd.

Can I congratulate you on your captivating account of the story. You have done a lot of work and your findings go way beyond what I was able to find. I have not found anything new since the original post.
