Hi all,

Hoping someone may be able to help.  I am looking for information on my Family.

My GGfather is Thomas Reid. I have a birth cert. that has born 19 Feb 1854 Abbey, Lanakshire, Scotland.  I have found somewhere else this maybe Abbey, Paisley, Renfrewshire.

His parents were Thomas and Annie Reid

He married 23 March 1889 in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia to Sarah Helen Hine born 1869 in Queensland.

Hope someone may be related or can assist.

Is there a typo in the year of his birth as it postdates his marriage :)   Edit - Apologies - I see the heading is 1854!

Where was the birth record from?   Probably me but I can't see it on Scotlands People

Did it give an actual address or just say Abbey?

Did they have other children & was the place name the same which would clarify?

When & where were Thomas' parents married & where were they 1851 & 1861 census as this could be another clue?

Still looking for information.  The confusing part is that on his Marriage Cert in 1889 he was 22 giving that he was born 1867, however his death certificate in 1937 has he was 83 years old being then born 1854 a difference of 13 years.  His wife Sarah Anne Hine was born 23 Dec 1869 in Australia so I am thinking 1867 is probably the year.
I am at least looking for Thomas Reid parents.  They are possibly Thomas and Annie.

If you have the birth cert. it will have the city/county on it either Lanark or Renfrew as well as the parish  ???

Seems you are unsure if you have the correct birth cert. but you don't say if Annie's maiden name is also Reid?

Did the marriage cert. not give his parents names or at least his father's name & same with death did it give any parents names?

A death cert. is likely to contain errors as the info. is only as good as the informant's knowledge.

Who registered his death?
