Hi
Reposted request from Common Room Board.
Appreciate any ideas please on the age of the young boy/man and the date the photo may have been taken? No one recognizes the boy but he must be related as he is the image of my late Uncle.
I looked on the recommended sites but cant find any ties like the boy is wearing, some of the family were Publicans but not sure they would have worn anything like that?
My Grandmother never met her birth family but I found a 2nd cousin who kindly sent me photocopies of family photos. The photos were personal ones of Gran's cousin 'Amy' who was a Photographer in East Finchley Middlesex c 1917-1970ish.
Amy's parents were also Photographers in Wandsworth c1890-1917 and then East Finchley 1917-1950.
This would not repost with the original copy so attach one my husband edited, so doubt the tie was red, but who knows.
Thank you

Hi Reyz,
Here is the photo from the Common Room.
Do you have any other information like a rough idea of who he was related too?
Did your Gran’s cousin take the photo? Was the original a color photo?
I guess we can safely say the photo is pre 1970.

I've had a go at cleaning up this photo. Now to try and put an age on the photo.

Hi Deadants
Possible contenders :
Harry born in 1889 Eng,
Hubert born in 1891 Eng - Discount him now as on the Ellis Island records he had fair hair and blue eyes. The enclosed chap looks to have dark brown eyes.
Edwin born 1904
Leslie born 1905.
Earlier men in the family where :
Harry born in 1866
and James born 1868 in London,
Their father born in 1835 a Clerk, and another son but its not him.
Some of the photos were plain like this one and some had Amy's Fathers name on, taken in Wandsworth. Believe none of the photos were originally in colour.
Yes, think your right about being pre 1970 :) and you have done a very good job on the photo.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Reyz,
You have set a real poser.
Looking at him he could be any age between 15 and 30 plus !
His hair is in a definitely 20th century style/cut ---- more than likely something between 1915 and 1925.
But that tie !!!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I have seen like it is in old American photographs, and in 'Western' (cowboy) films. On first seeing the picture I thought it was an American one, and even after reading what you had to say about 'discounting' that possibility -------- I still have the feeling that it is.

Hi Percy
Thanks for your interest and comments. Think you are possibly correct with the American theory.
Hubert PERRY only had a daughter, Emigrated to Hartford and died in California.
but America got me thinking and remembering, cousins on other side of the family :
Harry Spencer born 1892 in London
Helen born 1895 in New York
Richie ? born 1899 in New York - there may have been another one I vaguely recall?
Wonder if it was one of them?
Thank you again..

That tie is interesting, check the tie on the man in this link.

That may have us rethinking time and place.

Hi Deadants
Hmm interesting, so now wondering if the chap is :
Harry Perry born 1866 London a Publican or his brother, James Perry born 1868 London, both died in London.
Thanks again for being so helpful.
Best wishes
