Hi all :)
I'm looking for some information on my ancestor George Towle.
He was born in Barrow on Humber in about 1815.
(The location comes from census data and the year from his tombstone)
He married in Appleby on 10 Jun 1841 and lived there for the rest of his life.
He was a schoolteacher and then rate collector and parish clerk for Appleby.
I'd really like to track down his baptism and any information on his parents/siblings if possible :)

The date I think came from someone else's research - I've contacted him to ask if can confirm the source.
Yes, I've looked at Lincstothepast and there's some fantastic stuff there :) Must have got a bit confused going through the baptism records, though, I definitely couldn't find George. I was probably looking in the wrong place!

Ah, now I know why I couldn't find the baptism on Lincs to the Past. It was added into the records a few years later and written in the top margin with the note: "This mistake or omission discovered and corrected by me, PH Hesleden, vicar, Jan 9th 1819"
I found his brother William's baptism was recorded in the same way. I wonder if there's a reason for that....?
