Title: Death look up: Alec Nelson, London Ontario

Could someone please look up the death of Alec Nelson? Born around 1930.

Lived in London Ontario, then Long Beach, California.....then back to Canada.

Wife: Jean, daughter, Ruth. (Jean's mother lived in Ferniegair, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She bred Cairn Terriers).

Alec had 2 sisters: May & Janet......(married name Acres. Janet's son Bill works/worked at the Canadian Legislature.)

Any info would be appreciated.

You will find there, the burial listing of the sister whose married name you know, here. It's under her maiden name. The listing names her husband, and he has a separate indexed entry.
No dates on this Database - just the names and locations of cemetery.

He died 1990.
Her year of death was not yet inscribed on the stone when photo taken.

Thank you for your info.....it is appreciated.

The info I'm looking for is on Alec Nelson. The link you messaged, is ref the grave of his sister, Janet Acres (nee Nelson) & her husband, Alexander.

Do you know for sure this man is deceased? It is RootsChat policy that living people not be mentioned on the public boards to protect their privacy.

The deaths index for Ontario is only available to the public up to about 1939 or 40, with a new year added annually. After this time we need to rely on resources such as newspaper obits or cemetery records, not all of which are on line.

At the Winnipeg Free Press Passages website, I found an obituary for a Jean Nelson who was the widow of an Alec Nelson but there was no mention of a daughter named Ruth - just a son and daughter-in-law. It mentions she was predeceased by her husband and a number of siblings but again no mention of a daughter. It gives the year of death for her late husband as 1988. That year isn't covered in the Passages database and I can't check the Free Press Archives until later tomorrow because the site is undergoing a server upgrade at the moment. Once it's back up I'll check to see if there is an obit for Alec Nelson so we can see if it's the right man.

Alec was still alive in 1988....& I know he & Jean had only a daughter.
