Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a birth/baptism for a William Henry Brown on his marriage certificate he says his parents are William Brown and Charlotte Ball and it says he was born in Manchester England, this is also the same on his children birth certificates.
I have looked and looked with no luck at all, im hoping someone can surprise me and see something im missing.
So he married 20 November 1875 in Hay, NSW, Australia and it says he was 33 and she was 24. His father William Brown was a Sailor.
Forever thankful for all your kind help.
Jennifer :)

When did he arrive in Australia. Were any other family members with him

Does his age on that marriage certificate check with any other known ages for him that you have, or did he lie as his bride was a lot younger?
-
His age checkout most of the time with what he states his age on his childrens certificates but some he doesnt age increase he stays the same, his death certificate states hes 65 but if u go by the age at marriage hes only 60 so i believe he was born between 1837 and 1842.
I have not been able to find a year of arrival.

Looks like he may have died in infancy

Deaths Sep 1843

There are further births in Chrlton RD for Wm Hy's after these but the name is too common to guess

Yes i have to agree Rosie such a common name and Brown Blimey its a hard one.
After doing some research im starting to wonder could it actually be Mancetter, Warwickshire as it was known as Manchester too, in Warwickshire i can find a marriage of a George Brown to a Charlotte Ball.
I just dont know what to think anymore or where to go next.

On his death certificate he was a opal miner, marriage certificate in 1875 in Australia he was a labourer.
His father was listed as a sailor.

I think you need to try & find out when he came over to Australia and whether he travelled alone. We don't have those records for that early on in the UK.
