I'm currently waiting for my beloved grandfather's war records from the MOD to learn about his life in WW2. He never really spoke about it much but like all who served, he was a hero. While I'm waiting for this information, a photo was found of my grandfather with his full squad and printed along the front of it was: Buller 2 Squad 3 Coy. RASC. APL 9th 1940. I understand Buller to be the barracks in Aldershot and he enlisted in the RASC, but is there any way of finding out where this squad went from there or will I only really find out from his service records?
Thanks.

What was his army serial number please?

Hi, his service number is 168108.

Did it have a letter T either at the beginning or the end, do you know?
My dad was in RASC his number was 147733.
He was in Egypt for 4 years.

It sounds like where he may have done some of his training when he first joined up. I'm guessing he was possibly only with this unit for a short period of time, weeks, and then posted to a unit proper-I'd wait for the records for the full picture. :)

Hi, no letters that I know of. I know he was a desert rat with Monty and saw Eygpt and I remember photos of Bethlehem. I know he attended a hospital in Sicily on 25.11.1943 at 33 General Hospital, Ward 10 and he also had a day pass to Naples too.
