Title: Stephen Wall christened in Cullen + Latten, Tipperary
Post by: sues82 on Wednesday 09 March 16 02:46 GMT (UK)
Hello, I have found a Christening record in the Catholic Parish Registers for Stephen Wall 15/9/1851 in Cullen + Latten, son of Stephen Wall and Maria McGraith (McGrath).  In the register, on his record only, is written, what looks like the word Print. It runs into the & sign so isn't really clear. I was wondering if this could be the fathers occupation? or does anyone know what it may mean. Has anyone had this occur to them?
Thank you.
Sue

Hi Sue
I believe its Prnt which may mean Protestant . Maybe Stephen was Church of Ireland and Mary Mcgrath probably Catholic so the child under church law at that time had to be a Catholic . Margaret Chadwick who was the sponsor is giving me that clue as the Chadwick's were Church of Ireland . Maybe Stephen worked for the Chadwick's . Then again I could be completely wrong .

Oh wow, thank you. I would not have thought of that. I am trying to prove if this is my Stephen Wall, son of Stephen Wall. The son married in London in a Protestant Church so what you say adds up. You sound as if the Chadwick's were important can you give a reference please? Thanks.
