Born 1842 co.cork.
Can you tell me anything about any members of her family. I think she is my great grandmother

Hi haworthman
Welcome to Rootschat ;D
Are you trying to reply to a topic you've found here or are you starting a completely new one?
If this is a new one, what else can you tell us about her? who did she marry? when did she die?

hi haworthman,
and a warm welcome from me :)
as dawnsh says you need to give more info
if you think she may be your great grandmother, details of your grandparent who you think is her child might help to narrow the search.
do you have that grandparent's birth certificate? that will show parents names and thus help search for your grandparent's siblings.
sorry I can't help with Irish research but there are lots who can.
cheers

My grandfathers name was Thomas Mckie born in Bingley West yorkshire in about 1890, died 1947.Ellen Mccoys husband in Ireland was Thomas Mccoy born1847.The name seems to have changed for some reason to Mckie around when my grandfather was born.I half suspect she might have left her husband in Ireland as what I have found is that when my grandfather was born in Bingley west yorkshire it said his father was unknown. There was also a brother of my grandfather called James Mckie born 1883.
Even if you do not find anything I would like to thank you for you efforts so far.
Thank You very much

Welcome to Rootschat :)
Do you have the birth cert of Thomas Jr., if so what was her maiden name?
-
According to the 1891 census and also a later census Ellen was born in Co Down, not Co Cork. She and Thomas (age 48 occ. Carter) first appear in the 1881 census in Bradford having moved from Ireland sometime between the birth of son John in 1873 in Ireland and birth of daughter Mary Ellen in Bradford in 1877. Ellen appears on all the later census on her own although she consistently describes herself as married. Altogether there are seven children listed at one time or another on the census ( all born in Yorkshire except John). The last census indicates she had nine children in all and that six were still alive at the time of the census. When daughter Mary Ellen married in 1903 her father is listed as Thomas McCoy, a miner, and there is no indication that he is deceased.

It sounds as though you don't have any certificates but are depending just on family stories and what you might have found online?
Birth certificates for the children should list mother's maiden name and (if married) father's name and occupation. Since son John was born in Ireland that would give a starting point for any Irish research.
Possible birth: John McCoy born 2 Aug.1872 Donaghmore district, Co. Down with parents Thomas McCoy and Ellen Campbell. Certificates for other children would confirm Ellen's maiden name.

At least one online tree says that Ellen's husband, Thomas McCoy died 1922 Skipton, Yorkshire (born 14 Aug.1848 Ballymacarrraty Beg, Co. Down and married 14 Jan.1872 Glen R.C. Church, Donaghmore Parish)
This seems to be the 1922 death- https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVHW-R7S7
Possibly him in 1911 in some sort of institution (we aren't allowed to do lookups for 1911 English census)-

There are also quite a few possible prison records for Thomas McCoy in the Wakefield area which may explain why he didn't always appear with Ellen and the children.
Added- Donoughmore R.C. parish registers online-

Hi Thirsk
Haworthman hasn't been online here since 2016, but as long as their email address hasn't changed, should receive a notification that you have posted.
Fingers crossed they come back soon.
