Title: Mrs Imhoff
Post by: Inicky on Sunday 06 March 16 20:20 GMT (UK)
I have acquired a few old books from my recently deceased father in law one of which is called ''The happy recovery and other stories for the young'', inside is a hand wriitten inscription that says

''Presented to Arthur Allen by his teacher mrs imhoff for attendance and good conduct Jan 13th 1878''

none of the family know its origin, this book is likely to of been presented to a pupil in the bolden area, quite sweet i thought

The 1881 has a 9yr old Arthur Allon living in Jesmond but he was born Arthur Douglas Allon so not likely to be the one mentioned.  No 1871 or 1881 entry for an Arthur Allen/Allan in Northumberland

No Imhoff in Northumerland either

Is there any other info to link it with Northumberland?

Do you mean the Boldon area? This is in County Durham.

Mrs Imhoff seems difficult to identify as well - is that correct?

The only Arthur Allen in Durham in 1881 was a baby - no entry in 1871
