Elizabeth Hampson's parents William Hampson ( a Sailor) and Maria Levey, Her siblings were Jane Jones Nee Hampson (my ancestor), Michael John Hampson, William Hampson, Susan Hampson, Maria Anna Barry nee Hampson, Marie Kathleen Hampson, Helena Carolan nee Hampson.
Elizabeth married ----- Kiernan, she went to live in Australia, possibly New South Wales. I have pictures from relatives sent to my GGGrandmother Jane, but it wasn't until recently that I found out which family member had gone out there. I'm hoping to find her descendants.

There is a tree on ancestry (yes I can hear the groans ;D) but this one is very well-researched with many documents (and photos of Elizabeth too).
It has that Elizabeth HAMPSON (daughter of Maria LEVEY and William HAMPSON) married Peter Christpher DEVINE in Dublin in 1882 and died in Auburn NSW in 1943
Just trying to check the information from the tree.
There is a death on NSW BDM http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/
1943 Eliza DEVINE, father William, mother Maria at Auburn
Here is the death notice which confirms she was wife of Peter Christopher DEVINE

I notice from Elizabeth's Death Notice that one of her daughter's Lily was Mrs S F KIERNAN
From NSW BDM
marriage
Sylvester F KIERNAN to Elizabeth M DEVINE in 1915 at Auburn

adding : I assume Lily was nickname. It's the only KIERNAN-DEVINE marriage I can find in NSW and the KIERNAN grandchildren in Elizabeth DEVINE's death notice match the children of Elizabeth KIERNAN in her death notice

Rosball is right on the money. William HAMPSON and Maria LEVEY's daughter Eliza married Peter Christopher DEVINE. Eliza, Peter and their first daughter Mabel travelled to Australia aboard the Dallam Tower in 1883. Their second daughter, Elizabeth was born in Australia in 1885. This daughter married Sylvester Francis KIERNAN, who are my Great Grandparents. Sylvester died in 1966 and Elizabeth died in 1985, 3 months after her 100th birthday. I have information on the Australian descendants that I am happy to share.
I have only joined Rootschat today, as I was kindly contacted by Rosball on what I now know to be "That site"

Hello Sbowie,
Welcome to rootschat :) ;)
I thought you'd enjoy being part of the discussion and making contact with the OP (original poster) 251 richmond road.
cheers,
Ros
adding : Your tree is well-researched and documented :) But there are lot of others on " that site " which are not :(
-
I should add Sbowie that you won't be able to use the personal message system fully until you have made a couple more posts (they can be brief ;D)
But Richmond Street can send you 1 (exactly one) personal message containing his/her e-mail address even now. You won't be able to reply by personal message (PM) yet ... but of course you can reply by e-mail. :)
After a couple more posts you can send and receive as many PM's as you like.
cheers,
Ros

Wow, thanks very much Rosball, Majam and my new relative Sbowie. I'm still trying to take it all in, but I do recognise some of the names, I have pictures sent to to Janey ( my ggGran) then later to her son Georgie, and later still to my Mum. I always remember my Mum telling me the story of a relative in Australia, she said he was a very tall man, Bern, and she told me the story of the accident with the train. I have also been contacted in the last week by the descendants of Michael John Hampson, Elizabeth's brother. I must get her to join Rootschat. The picture below was sent to Janey Hampson, written on the back it said to Janey from Annie. The studio was in Sydney Australia.
-
I also have, pictures of twin girls Frances and Annette with Kay. I did see your post on That site but I'm not a member and I recognised the group family picture as I also have a copy but never knew who they were. So I decided to try Rootschat as I though in a month a search engine would lead you here......
-
Hi guys,
I would just like to thank Rosball & Majm for your help, time and effort, it's much appreciated. Sbowie and the family in Ireland and England are now talking and comparing notes.
Kind regards 251 ;D
-
That's fantastic news 251 :)
We all love it when different branches of a family link up. :)

Hi Kiernan63,
Welcome to rootschat :)
I'm sure sbowie and 251 will be thrilled to catch up with another family member. They will have been notified of your post and will be along very soon.
How very sad about your father being killed like that - it must have been a terrible time for your family.
regards,
Ros

Hello Kiernan63, It's very exciting that you commented on the this post. I am the Grandson of Leonard Kiernan and Great Grandson of Sylvester. Diane is my mother. I have been trying to put the family tree together for a little while now using Ancestry, but then I was introduced to Rootschat. It is an awesome site. Hopefully we can exchange lots of information and memories about the Kiernan side of the family. Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Sean

Great to hear from you Kiernan63,
Myself, Sean and Angela the descendants of Jane, Elizabeth and John Hampson/Hamson have been in touch via FB. We would love to hear from you, if you post a couple more replies here you can p.m me on this site, as I wouldn't be as brave as Sean putting my email online.
My mother knew all about the Australian side of the family, I remember growing up hearing the story of your father's tragic accident, though clearly I wasn't paying enough attention.......
I have pictures, though most are of the twins, I think they used to send letters regularly, possibly to Georgie Jones or my mother.
So post a few replies here. Regards 251

This is a picture of my Mum around the time I think the twins would have been writing.
