Hi

Please could anyone confirm what this means?

It looks like the number 6 then Res'd and the date.   

Does this stand for resigned and what is the significance of the '6'?

maybe its a degree mark as in advanced to 6th degree, but I havnt been right so far with anything so its my last shot before giving up on deciphering.. I better stick to lurking and letting others figure it out. just thought I'd give it one last go :)
  ..and the 'raised' date in '98 as in entered/passed/raised..idk

Your best bet may be to email the archivist at the Freemasons' Library, and ask.
