Are requested look ups for the 1939 register, for those that have a sub, banned as the 1911. As in no info can be posted?

The rules for requesting information from commercial and/or subscription sites apply, ie no 1939 look-ups.
see the last but one paragraph here

I would presume so, as the only place you can see the information is via the FindMyPast site isn't it? Therefore if you post information from there you are breaking their copyright rules. Perhaps we need a definite ruling from the copyright editor on here.

Thanks all, I guessed as much. Only just found out about the 1939, as just dip in and out of FH these days, with work and family commitments.
Thinking of now renewing sub, as interest rekindled with 1939...is it worth the sub? Would be interested to have views.
Exhausted census info and have nothing to gleen more than just sending for Certs for extended family. Sooo would love to have a look at 1939. My FH nose is twitching.... :o

Hi, I have found the 1939 register very helpful - it has helped me identfy other family members through using the information on the 1939 register.
For example, a marriage between my gt uncle and his wife provided a vital clue as to who my gt Aunt had married as she was a witness at two of her brothers weddings. (I got his wife's name from the register and then searched for the marriage record and ordered the cert)
Another household helped me verify that I was looking at the right family - address in register matched death certificate address.
It also helped with identifying the actual DOB for some relatives and also helped me grow my tree because their children were showing on the register. I now have names of 'Holland' Relations that are still alive today through tracking of birth's with the surname Holland and the said mother's maiden name - although to track them I would have to use Facebook or such like as there are alive!
Although some actually come up on the electoral roll register results, from which I traced a gt aunt that is still alive today!!
I would definetly recommend it, just be sure you have some sort of clue that your unlocking the right household as it will get expensive if not!!
Happy Delving!

check your local library to see if they have a subscription to FindMyPast as library editions now include the 1939 register

Are look ups allowed for the 1939 Register via FindMyPast in libraries? :-\
For example, if someone's local library did not have FindMyPast Library Edition, but Joe Bloggs's did, and Joe was going to his library to look up some of his family in the 1939 register, could he offer to do a look up for someone else, or could someone ask Joe to do a look up them when he was next at his library?
-
I think however the info was obtained, from own sub or library source, if posted on forum would violate copyright. If joe wanted to post via PM to his mate up to them. Same as 1911. I think Dawnish was suggesting that I could still obtain info from a library source without paying a years sub, or buying credits.

Your explanation sounds logical Cas. I just wondered if the person visiting the library had not paid for the subscription then they may not be bound by the terms and conditions. (but that is probably not the case)
Yes, Dawn was suggesting you find a library with FindMyPast Library Edition. :)

Very interesting this 1939...don't have time to sit in my library, and see you can only obtain with a years sub from the 16th Feb with FindMyPast.
Guess those that have bought the expensive credits would have been better off with a sub possibly, as then all info they (FindMyPast) have can be sought.
Nowt changes, genealogy is a passion for many and business bucks for the big guns :P ::)
