Hi everyone,
Is it possible to find a record that proves someone worked on an estate as part of a wider staff? I am trying to find a document that will prove an ancestor of mine was a maid working on the Chevening estate in Sevenoaks, Kent for the 3rd Earl Stanhope around 1808-1809 (and possibly some preceding years).
Thanks in advance.

Try the Kent Archives in Maidstone, that is the most likely place to find the Stanhope papers, and those of the Chevening Estate.

Just to confirm, this document is only accessible by going to the library in person isn't it? The library states it has many images available online but I couldn't find an access point for this and similar reference material.
Thanks again

Hi,
Yes, not available on line.
However suggest you e-mail or telephone to ask if this particular record or any other contain details
of staff employed on the estate, in order to save a wasted visit.
Record offices are usually very helpful.
