Title: What could be this first name?
Post by: grosjean545 on Thursday 18 February 16 16:13 GMT (UK)
Hello,

Could you help to identify this writting ? The initial seems to be an "R" and it seems to have some letters after the name. I've got an idea about this, but I want to be sure, so I ask you some help to identify this first name and these last letters after the name.

Thank you in advance.

It looks like Rd, i.e. Richard to me.

The letters after the surname might be 'Jnr' i.e. Junior  :-\

Thank you, I think exactly the same thing about this : It seems to be Richard, but I would like to be sure it could not be Robert... and for the last letters, I think it could be 'Jr' for Junior.

It's a letter from 1826, and I don't know if it's common at this period to write 'Jr'.

And I've got this other one from 1827. For me, it could be the writting of the same person, but could you tell me what you think about this? But now, there are no 'Jr'...

Richard Butler. Probably the same hand, but possibly not.
