Hi,
Going around in circles trying to find info./parents of William Kirk born 1809 in Burringham or Bassingham. Lincs. Married Anne Stephenson (1803-1835) in Amcotts 30/12/1830
They had son John in July 1833 born Burringham 2/8/1833. Baptised Althorpe 2/8/1833.
(John's Marriage Certificate in 1854 (Hull) lists William as a grocer ( Do they list deceased Father's occupation as I think William died in Hull in1846)
William was widowed in 1835, married Martha Horner in 1836 and was a Linen Draper/ Grocer in Winteringham in 1841.
Any help would be gratefully received.

If when John married he was asked for his fathers name & occupation and he had not mentioned that he was deceased then it would appear on his marriage certificate.
The 1841 Winteringham census states that William was not born in the county (Lincolnshire) ???

According to freereg the 1830 marriage took place in Belton in Axholme, Lincolnshire on 30 Dec 1830 both were 'of the parish' - witnesses William Newbit & John Arrand.

Thanks Rosie for spotting that William was not from Lincs. Do you know any way of finding where was from? Been trolling through online records and cannot identify him.
:)

Sorry I have no idea as to where William originated. You say he was previously married does that give any clues.
