Searching for the WW2 service records of James Jacobs born abt 1905 lived in Woking Surrey most of his life. Married Caroline Maud Irene Semmens in Surrey 1936. Caroline born Wales 1909 and died at Lewisham, London January 1998.
Have located three army records;
James JACOBS, Service Nod: H/17588 WO2 1944 Regina Rifle Regiment.
James Ernest JACOBS, Service Nod: 14388135 Pte. 1944 Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment
J H JACOBS, Service Nod: 6827194 Pte., 1940 East Surrey Regiment.
Could he, James JACOBS born abt 1905 be one of the above.

Have you got the birth cert for the one born in 1905?

Hi,
No, sadly I don't have the birth certificate of James Jacobs born abt 1905. Trying to find his parents.
His father may have been named George, but not certain. James lived all his life in the London, Surrey area apart from his war service. He also died in Lewisham UK
Find My Past -- 1939 Register shows Caroline M I Jacobs born 1904 at Woking U.D, Surrey, England with 2 others Ref: RG101/1932K/005/41 Find My Past charge $13.50 about 27 UK Pounds to find the names of the other two living with Caroline -- a bit steep for a Pensioner.
Thanks for your interest.

Hi
The 1939 Register may not be of help, according to the preview '2 more people who are officially closed' which usually means they were born after 1915 and haven't been recorded as deceased. If James was in the military then I believe he would not be on the Register unless home on leave.
WW2 Service Records are still held by the MOD, did James survive the war?

Do you know the date of birth of your James Jacobs?
If you do you can apply for his service records using his dob:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records#how-to-apply-for-service-personnel-records
Cost is around £30.
Added: re reading your post you say he was born c 1905 so presumably you don't know his dob.
His marriage certificate should give his father's name which might help you locate him in the 1911 census and help with furthering your research.

Hi clancam,
You can rule out this man. Canadian, born 13 October, 1917. Killed 8 July 1944. Wife's name was Agnes Johnstone Jacobs, of Winnipegosis, Manitoba.
