Can anyone find the marriage records of John Miller for me, please.
I believe he was married to a Margaret, one of two possibles:
1. John Miller 13th Nov 1785 to Margaret Craggs, Sunderland Holy Trinity, or
2. John Miller 29th Dec 1787 to Margaret Taylor, Sunderland Holy Trinity.
Possible children baptised in the Robinson Lane NC (the Scotch Presbyterean Chapel) are:
Margaret Miller 1786
John Miller 1790
Peter Miller 1791
James Miller 1793
Anne Miller 1795
He died in 1796 age 47 but didn't leave a will (that I could find which probably means there is one right in front of my face!) to help with identifying his wife.
I'd be very grateful if someone could dig out the originals so that I could see if any witnesses leap out at me. Many thanks.

I have managed to find the Marriages and Allegations for Durham but neither of the above marriages appear in the records. If they were married in the Robinson Lane NC would they then not be in the Durham Diocese records?

I believe you can find transcripts for both these marriages at Durham Records Online, not sure how much info they would provide. £1.50 to take a look.

hi J11
I have checked Durham Records Online like '99phil99' suggested but they have got the exact info as your first post, they don't give any witnesses to either marriages.

Witnesses to the 1785 marriage were: William Scott and Thomas Arlot(freq witness)
The 1787: Hugh Miller and Thomas Arlot
both marriages by banns, both of this parish

Thank you! It's the 1787, Hugh Miller is John Miller's brother. So Margaret Taylor it is. Hugh was married to an Elizabeth Taylor and both brothers, plus third brother Charles, had a number of partnerships with a Thomas Taylor. Probably sisters or cousins from the Thomas Taylor family. Thank you so very much.
