"The Thomas, of Cork, was seen the 1st instant, lat.50, long.10. abandoned. . ."

(Morning Advertiser 14 December 1830 from Lloyds Books of December 13th)

Another small piece says the ship that sighted the Thomas (the Waterloo, Cornish) arrived in Liverpool from Pernambuco (I think Brazil) so  the Thomas probably was in the Atlantic Ocean which fits with the longitude/latitude.

Because there is no indication about where and about captain on online "City on London" index.

Thomas :
31 st of march
22nd of may
26th of june,
10th of july,
1st of september

Thank you very much!

hi,
My info came from a short piece in the newspaper, not very informative I m afraid and a bit of guesswork. I have no access to Lloyds lists I m afraid.
Not quite sure what you are looking for, was the ship definitely Thomas, or are you looking for a specific person on that ship?

Hello, thank you for answer,

In fact, I'm trying to find every information about the brig "Thomas" which sailed circa 1826-1829 in South African, because I know that ship was under captain Butler's command and he could be one of my ancestors.

On Lloyd's list (online : cityoflondon website), some information about Thomas don't mention the name of the captain, so I need to know where she was to be sure she's the good ship.

Ah, the lists are published in the newspapers
March 21st
"New York....The Thomas from Malaga to this port went onshore East Hampton 14th Inst."

June 26th
"Cape of Good Hope April 19th
The Thomas, coasting brig left Algoa Bay 25th inst for this port and serious apprehensions are entertained for her safety."

So, the first one is not the good one, but the second is "my one"!
Thank you. :)
