www.lancashirebmd.org.uk shows the marriage was in 1887 at Our Lady & St. Nicholas & St. Anne

If you live in Liverpool - you can look the marriage up at the records office

Both James & Ann were b Scotland and their first 4 children shown on the 1901 census were also b Scotland.

I can't see another James & Ann/Annie Chisholm in Liverpool in 1891

The 1887 marriage cert will only tell you their respective fathers names - not mothers

Carol their is somebody who has done a family tree with them geting married in scotland and as you can see by the childrens names its the same family but he will not get back in touch with me to discuss this. I have the 4 birth certificates all born in LIVERPOOL.
Thanks LL.

Nobody has notified an amendment to the 1901 entry and the actual image shows all birthplaces as Scotland.

If those 4 children were all b Liverpool - it makes the 1887 marriage far more likely.

If you know the names of either James or Annie's fathers then your best way is to either buy a copy of the cert or look it up at the records office for free

The 1911 entry supports an 1887 marriage

As both were born after 1855 - their birth certs will be available to download from Scotlands People which is a pay per view site via credit purchase

There is no Scottish 1871 entry for a James Chisholm with a father Daniel.  What was Daniel's occupation on the marriage cert?

See this English 1871 available on FS - birthyear 1861

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VBJ7-JP5

What was Andrew's occupation on the marriage cert?

There is NO marriage in the index at Scotland's People of a James Chisholm to an Ann* Fra*er between 1855 and 1891. I think that Liverpool one has to be correct, and it's the person who told you the marriage was in Scotland who is the duffer, not the Liverpool marriage.

But in a reply on your other post you give the impression you have that cert as you quote their fathers names.  You also say somebody else says they married in Scotland so are you quoting info from that person rather than your own personal research?

You were asked on your other post whether you had checked SP for a marriage - have you?

I can't understand your reluctance  to accept the Liverpool marriage given that both James and Annie were living in Liverpool/Cheshire on censuses prior to the 1887 marriage as per info I have posted on your other thread

Ah yes. Very confused, I am, thanks to there being two threads on the same family. I agree with you that the Liverpool marriage is the right one.

Great census pointers for 1881, Jonn  :) With everything commented on prior, looks like both the Chisholm and Fraser families prior to the marriage of son James and daughter Ann in Lancashire.
