Title: Samuel Gough - Born c1818 - Looking for death
Post by: Tess61 on Monday 25 January 16 15:11 GMT (UK)
My great great grandfather was born in Mainstone Shropshire and the last information i have is the 1891 census and has him living alone aged 72. In looking for the death there is a death in Madeley. The other census results show him in Minsterley. Are these areas near each other? and can this be his death.

Many thanks. Not been here for a while but have now resumed my research.

Minsterley parish is within Atcham Registration District.

So the death in 1900 looks a better bet?

Tess,

The Samuel Gough in Minsterley in the 1891 census is described as a Roadman.

The 1900 GRO indexed death for Samuel Gough cross-matches to a Probate record for a Samuel Gough of Minsterley, a Roadman who died on 25 April 1900.

You can view this record (free) by searching via this link: https://www.gov.uk/wills-probate-inheritance/searching-for-probate-records (or otherwise it is in Ancestry & Findmypast).
