I have recently been looking for Michael Maher and Mary Malone of Mullingar, Co Westmeath
According to the Baptism records NLI, they had 5 children- Margaret 1873, Patrick 1875, Thomas 1877, Teresa 1879 and Anne 1881.
According to Family Search, Margaret 1873,Patrick 1875, Teresa 1879. I can't find a record for Thomas or Anne, but found a record for Mary Maher 1869 (can't find this on NLI)
Does anyone have time to have a look at this for me as I feel I'm missing something.
I have checked the census for 1901/1911 and that just brings more confusion.
Thanks.

Some of my Mahers were often spelt...Meagher and Mayer ....worth a consideration.

Thomas Maher (1877) https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGN1-NZY
Mary Maher (1869) https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FRMD-XVR
Also a Christopher (1866) https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FR3X-ZNB
Perhaps Annie was baptised soon after birth but died before her birth could be registered and the parents overlooked that. Have you searched for a death for her?

Thanks all.
Will look for a death record now. Thanks

Hi Dathai
Thanks for the links. I had already seen them, but realised some of the ages are way out. Eg. Christy is recorded as being 30 on both census. Not sure if it's the right family, hence trying to find a record for more children on NLI with Michael Maher and Mary Malone as parents.

Are you working back from this one

so would presume you got parents from marriage entry

Morning all
That Michael Maher is my husbands great grandfather, and he married Mary Gray in Taghmon.
And in turn, Michaels parents were John Maher and Rose Gilligan - pointed towards this by the kind people of rootschat. Baptism can be found on nil.ie, parish registers of Mullingar - 1873

The registers for Mullingar RC parish show a marriage on 31 July 1865 of Michael Maher to Mary Malone (left page, 3rd entry up from bottom):

Maybe a possibility?

Dreadful quality, but possible child baptised for parents Michael Maher and Mary Malone October 1867 (left page, 4th entry down)?:

Another possiblity, quality not great, Catherine born January 6 1871, baptised 8 January 1871, parents Michael Maher and Mary Malone (top of page):

Hi to Glynny.
I think I may have some information for you. It seems like your grandmother Aunt Josie and my grandfather James Deane were brother and sister. My grandfathers mother was Ann Maher and they did settle in bray - . I remember the house in tyrrellspass. We visited Aunt Josie and uncle Jack many times.
Regards

Hi Dorothy. Nice to hear from you. We are definitely related then. I don’t have much info on your grandfathers side. Are you the daughter of Christina then? I too remember the house in Tyrellspass , no water in the house, having to use a tap outside, every meal was shank, cabbage and potatoes, walking miles to go to mass everyday, sharing one bed with 5 of my cousins....but they were fantastic holidays and I wish I could do them again. The house is still standing, but in need of major repair. Overgrown and much smaller then I remember. Do you recall Josies children? Sadly, there is only one left now. My uncle Joe who lives 10 miles away from me in Wales. Hope to hear back from you. Glad you made contact.

Hi Glinny. Nice to hear from you. Yes I am on of Christina's daughters - 2nd eldest. My mam was an only child and was known as Mai Murphy (Deane). I was in tyrrellspass about 2 years ago and saw the house- you're right it is in need of repair. You have lots of happy memories.. I must dig out the old photos. Did you find the grave. I have a picture of the headstone. Mam used to visit your uncle John in London. I haven't looked much into the maher side. I only signed up a few weeks ago. So trying to figure it all out.
