Hi
I'm looking for information on James Henry Hosking, son of Thomas Hosking, who emigrated from Breage in Cornwall to Australia. He was born around 1842. His brother Thomas emigrated around 1860 and went to South Australia.
It is possible James went to Melbourne and had a child J L Hosking.

What is it you would like to discover about the Hosking family,
his younger brother Alfred
was baptised
on the 20th July 1834
residence, Craver,
father Thomas a yeoman, and mother was Elizabeth
brother John, father Thomas a farmer baptised 3rd May 1838

The brother Thomas went out aged 23 on the Hooghly, sailing from Plymouth on 23rd April 1856 arriving at Port Adelaide on 25th July.
I can't see a passage for James but a lot of Hoskings seem to have emigrated to Australia from Cornwall.

Great help everyone, thanks!
I'm still wondering what happened to James. I have a couple of photos of him and one of J L Hosking, a baby in Malvern, Victoria.
-
Just realised that there is also a Malvern in Adelaide, and far more Cornishmen went to South Australia than to Victoria.
-
May be a coincidence, but a James Henry Hosking married Martha Harris in 1872 in Adelaide, S.A.

You've obviously got access to records I don't know about. That could well be my James, but how can I find their children's names?
