Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had access to this marriage record for James Whitehead to Helen Smith in 1778 - 17th November. St Mary, Marylebone Road, St Marylebone, London.
These are the only details I have of that marriage. If anyone could tell me any other details such as Parents names on the record or witnesses or ages of bride or groom. or place of birth of either.
I am trying to see whether they are my ancestors or not.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Vicky

Before 1837 it would be extremely unusual for ages and fathers' names to be stated.
The marriage register for St Marylebone shows that
- both spouses were 'of the parish' (residing there, not necessarily born there)
- the marriage was after banns (rather than by licence)
- all parties signed their names (rather than making their mark).
The banns book shows that banns were called on 25 October, 1 and 8 November.
