Post by: mag mcdaid canny on Monday 28 December 15 20:38 GMT (UK)
I would be very interested to know if anyone has a Mary Toland (Clonmany) who went to NY possibly Jan 1921 to stay with her aunt, Rose Ann Doherty , 13, Edgehill St, Boston, Mass in their family tree. Many thanks

My Great Aunt Mary Ann Kelly (1862-1946) from Annagh, Clonmany married Hugh C. Toland (1869-1929) from  Galwilly, Cardonagh in Boston on Apr. 16, 1901.

Hugh Toland had a sister Mary born on Feb. 2, 1864. I don't have anything else on her or know if she is the Mary Toland that you are looking for.

Hello jjtjr,
Thank you for reply. I don't think we have a connection here. My g aunt Mary Toland ( b. 18 Feb 1875) emigrated to Boston. Her sister Cecily/Siscily also went to. We don't know if they went at the same time. Their parents were Patrick Toland and Margaret (Peggy) Doherty, who married 1873 in Clonmany.  Perhaps if we have a connection it is much earlier in the Toland family?
Kind regards.

Mary Toland age 48 to boston, 16.10.1921 ship Cameronia

Mary Toland age 24, 8.1.1921 ship Columbia

so Mary would have been 48.

also a Cecily mention on this site early date.
