I'm seeking any information someone might have regarding a Cornelius Hayes and his son Bernard (occasionally referred to as Bryan in family stories) Hayes born 1844 in Tipperary.
I've come to a dead end and can't seem to locate any details about Bernard's birth which his 1901 census records as ~1844 in Tipperary or much about his parents except that his father was Cornelius, a bookkeeper. Bernard married Margaret Terney in Yorkshire in 1866. A son also named Cornelius and Margaret both died in childbirth. He remarried to Mag Carroll in 1887 and had three sons in Carlow. We've hit a brick wall trying to go back any further.
There is a Hayes branch with the same family names from Tipperary that emigrated to Australia that seems definitely related but I cannot find the connection. If anyone has any information it would be much appreciated. Thanks for any help you can give!

Thanks Conahy. Unfortunately without any more information besides a name narrowing down which Cornelius Hayes the death records refer to has turned out to be nearly impossible. It wasn't an uncommon name in Tipperary in the 1800s. There are several possibilities I've found but again no way to narrow it down or tie a death record to my Cornelius. Any suggestions on how to do that would be appreciated. The only information I have is that Cornelius Hayes is listed a Bernard's father on both his marriage certificates and his occupation is bookkeeper. Sadly unless someone else knows something about him or can find Bernard's baptism I think I'm stuck.

On his birth record the mother and father were not recorded.

I don't know if there is any connection with your Cornelius Hayes but I can give you some information on my ancestors, Cornelius Hayes and his wife Honora, nee Kennedy. Both emigrated from Ireland to Australia arriving in Victoria on 29 Apr, 1854 per "Merchantman" as Assisted Immigrants with four children aged between 4 years and 16 years. They gave their native places as Co Tipperary. Honora's brother, Roger Kennedy, had emigrated to Aust with his wife, Mary Egan per 'Strathfieldsaye' in 1839.
My research indicates that Cornelius and Honora were married c1836 Kilmore, North Co Tipperary. I have no information for the parents of Cornelius and I understand it is unlikely that I will find his baptism records c1816 nor Honora Kennedy's records for c1817.There is a record of the baptism of Mary Ann Hayes on 12 Apr, 1837 in Nenagh and Roger Hayes bapt on 28 Jul, 1847 in Kilcommon, both the children of Cornelius Hayes and Honora Kennedy. I know that Honora's parents were Michael Kennedy and Honora Kennedy (nee Kennedy).
This may only be of benefit to you in locating that my Cornelius was in the Nenagh/Kilmore area in the event you know where your Cornelius was from.

This is for anniebelle,
Hi, the Kennedys from Kilmore Tipperary, are these your people?
Roger who married Mary Egan, she was from Cork.
Roger's Father and my GGG Great Grandfather, Martin were brothers.
Martin moved to Borrisokane in the town land of Liskinlahan, some spell as Lishkinlahan.
3 of his grandchildren 2 boys and 1 girl went to Australia in the late 1860's. I am in touch with one of their families on the Gold Coast. If you are a member of Ancestry type in Liskinlahan as a key word and you will see all the trees.

Welcome to rootschat :).
Perhaps you can post the names & dates of the DECEASED members of your direct line from Cornelius Hayes, then other members can see the connection. Also it would be interesting to know your sources of information.
