Hi Little Annie,
Thanks for your message. Let it with me for a few days and I'll get back to you. I am quite new to this!!! I notice we share  surnames of interest - McCallion, McLaughlin, McDaid, and Doherty. Maybe we have connections!!!
Kind regards
Margaret

Hi Little Annie,
I really don't know. This is what I have come up with so far. Let me know if you would be thinking the same. The Mary McDaid 1861 you mention .... her parents were John McDaid (Tirk) b. abt 1826 and Susan Grant??
My great great grandparents would be John McDaid b. abt 1828 and Sarah Kelly b abt 1836 from the Illies.
I hope I've understood what you've asked me. If I've made a mistake pls let me know.
Kind regards
Margaret

I've just seen this post and I'm wondering if the Folly McDaid’s are the family of John McDaid and Catherine McLaughlin (originally Fallask) of Meendacallaigh Illies?

That is a great find Little Annie. Have you any idea who Catherine’s mother was? I know from her marriage record that her father was John but as you are no doubt aware the baptismal records for Desertegney only begin in the 1870’s so I have been unable to find out her mother’s name.

Sorry, Little Annie I do not know what you mean by “Looking at a certain site”.
I agree with you about the name probably being Anne. I searched RootsIreland civil deaths for possible Anne McLaughlins, Fallask records. The closest I came was Nancy McLaughlin (Nancy is Anne) a widow who died on 13/8/1871 aged 70 but the informant was Henry McLaughlin and I could find no trace of a Henry McLaughlin, Fallask, alive around 1871 except the man who was a witness to the marriage of George Donaghy and Catherine McLaughlin in 1874. I believe therefore that this Nancy may be your ancestor and not mine!

I think there is a distant relationship between the two McLaughlin Fallask families but I cannot prove it.

Hi Mag
You have mentioned a John McDaid (Tirk)  could that be Turk by any chance.  I as that because there was a John McDaid Turk drowned in Loch Foyle in 1865 after a collision between 2 steamer The Falcon and the Garland
