Hello,
I'm trying to gain a toehold into Northamptonshire for my wife's family. I've traced her 4th great-grandfather Robert BUTLER to either Marston St. Lawrence or Thenford.
Robert was born about 1807, though it could certainly be a couple of years in either direction. Does anyone have access to the Northants baptism (and marriage index if possible) to clarify his baptism, parents and possible siblings? I'd like to know if it's worth me doing a ton of research here, or if the family were from other parts of England, and were just around for Robert's birth, etc.
It seems Robert married Mary LOVERIDGE in 1834 in Thenford and came to Canada soon after. Mary was born in ~1812, so I'm assuming the one baptized to William and Elizabeth in 1812, though I don't know if that was the only Loveridge family living there at the time.
My deep appreciation in advance. It has taken me several me many years to get back to England on this line, and hoping this can help solidify a connection.
Cheers,
Lucas McCaw

WOW, I must my wife and her cousins are quite happy already. Shared the news this morning :). You're helping to knock down a brick wall that we've had for years. Thank you so much for including the burial info for borth of John's wives! That solves a major question the family has had for a while now. I wish John Butler Sr. were a little more obvious (Marston perhaps?), but I guess Rome wasn't built in a day, eh? :P I'm getting some family members to do DNA testing as well to confirm the paper trail.
I've done a couple of quick searches and seem to have gone back a generation or two with Robert's second wife Mary Loveridge (my wife is descended from her).
Would it be too much to ask for the same type of lookup lookup of the following two people:
1. Thomas BERRY, born about 1761 in Chipping Warden (based on a burial year of 1843).
2. Sarah FARMER, born about 1760 in Chipping Warden (based on a burial year of 1826).
Thomas and Sarah married in 1785, and seem to have had 7 children between then and 1797. Their son William (born 1787) was Mary Loveride's (1812) father.
Thank you again, this is a wonderful early Christmas present for the family :)

Correction to the above...their daughter Elizabeth (1785) MARRIED William Loveridge, and was the mother of Mary Loveridge (1812)...LOL.

My wife's 3rd great grandmother is Phoebe Hannah Butler b abt 1795 Thenford, Northamptonshire. Phoebe married James Smith on 19 October 1819 in Dallington, Northamptonshire. My wife's 2nd great grandfather is William Butler Smith b 10 Jun 1831.
Phoebe is one of my brick walls - I've been unable to find details of Phoebe's parents but I can see a number of Butlers in Thenford in the census records. Have you come across Phoebe in your travels through the Thenford records?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Mark,
There is a Phoebe Butler in Thenford, born 15 Feb 1797 to William & Ann Butler, and baptised 11 June 1797
And there's a brother Elam baptsed 31 Dec 1798.
William and Ann were married in 1794 in Newbottle. Anc*** seem to have managed to miss the page they were on. :( The Marriage index gives Ann's surname as Timns, and the BT as Times.

Many thanks for the information about Phoebe Butler. I had already found Elam Butler and his wife Elizabeth. Another brick in this particular wall removed. Much appreciated.
