The marriage is on rootsireland.ie transcribed as Jan 21 1842
Denis FALLON & Bridget FALLON but there is no record available on NLI

The Genealogy Centre Contact Details are:
Co. Sligo Heritage and Genealogy Society, Aras Reddan, Temple St., Sligo
There is an email & phone no. online at LINK (http://sligo.rootsireland.ie/index.php)
They may be able to help you with their source material

There are several matching baptisms on their site but again they are not on the www.nli.ie site

Interestingly there is a baptism of a Patrick FALLON on Apr 19 1850 in Sligo
Father Denis FALLON Mother Bridget Kilfather

Also Patrick FALLON Baptised Mar 13 1852
Father Denis FALLON Mother Bridget FALLON

There could be two families in the area or Kilfather/Kilfeather was actually Bridget's name and they had two sons named Patrick

Bedilia's baptism in Calry, transcription shows their address in 1859 as Holburn Hill Sligo

Hi Maggsie

Thank you for your posts, very helpful stuff.

Bryan May was apparently a blacksmith. Bridget his wife is a mystery. They had a daughter Bridget who was born in the 1850's  according to relatives. Not sure where but thought maybe Sligo!

Is it May or Fallen/Fallon?
There is a Bryan May the only one in Sligo, paying rent on 6 land entries.

Found out more from relatives.

Dennis Fallen died in 1904, Glasgow aged 66. I think he must have been older given he married in Jan 1842 see above.

Bridget his wife died earlier in 1891/

Patrick their son died in 1915. They also had another son Owen who married a Sarah Gallagher in 1869 in Scotland.

Hi,
Do you live in Scotland?
If you do, you may be better booking a PC for the day in Scotlands People in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Scotland's records are the best records I have ever used, as they give the time of a Birth or a Death.
You must book in advance, when I went it was about 12 or 15 for the day. 10.00 to 4.30. a few years ago now but well worth the trip.
Marriage records also have the birth information.

Hello there,
I believe we are related via the Fallen family. Our 3 x great grandfparents on my mother's maternal line were Denis and Bridget Fallen from Ireland. From census information 1871-1891 for this couple, they lived at 10 Castlebank St, Partick, and Denis was a shipbuilder labourer. According to each of these census returns, he would have been born in Ireland about 1815- 19 or so, and his wife Bridget (maiden name also Fallen) would have been born about 1813-1817. Both of their death certificates show ages that do not tally with the Scottish census returns - ie Bridgette was not aged 60 at the time of her death in  1891, but about 77 years old, and Denis would have been about 85 in 1904.

Most of the children this couple had were born in Ireland in the 1840's-1850's - I know of John Owen (Owen) Fallen b Ireland c.1847 (2x G Grandfather); Catherine Fallen 1848-98; Peter(Patrick) Fallen b.1852, Denis Fallen, 1858-1929.

It is very interesting that you discovered this couple were from Sligo and I would love to know the source material you have to research further.
Many thanks,
Ruth

Hi Ruth

Yes the facts stack up. I am descended via Patrick born 1852 who marrid Bridget May 1874. Their daughter Mary Jane born 1875. There was another daughter Sarah born 1890. There is some reference to her on ancestry. Shall I send you a PM?
