1901 Census has Elizabeth Young 22, living at Brunswick Street, Dublin with 2 year old son Francis Duncan. They were CoI. She was born in Co Carlow.
They lived with her mother Anne Vass,58,and her brother George Vass,18, born in Yorkshire.
So far I have not found her husband in 1901 Census, nor can I find a later marriage to a Margaret on GRONI.

There are 3 births Young with mother Vass, wouldn't be a common name combination so likely them, the last is 1907 so assuming it's them Elizabeth was still alive up to March 1907

That census look like 4 children 2 living although could be wrong on the 2.
The Unknown child in 1902 could be this boy
Richard Albert
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FTXT-MP1

And the Richard born in 1907 is Richard Walter Duncan

Yes thats the census returns for Francis Duncan Young..He had 4 children with Elizabeth Vass, she was from Carlow ,and the first child died in 1904...The returns says he is married which would indicate that his wife is still living, but I cannot find any information on her or the 2 other children

And per reply #7, Francis in that marriage is cited as a bachelor...  :-\

Wise to be suspicious, whilst not disregarding for the moment.

Wrong name, Francis John not Francis Duncan and wrong occupation. Doesn't look like a runner.

Francis John Young and Margaret Anderson look like a different couple indeed:

There is another in 1919 which is close.
It would be good to find her in 1911 and a look at that prison record might help.

Not many details from prison record other than already posted. - 1909 Elizabeth Young age 31 height 5'3"born Carlow residence 56 High St - Husband Frank Young do- Married- Protestant- offence threaten to commit suicide sentence 2 cal mos Bail 1 June.
Looked under initials in 1911 to see if she was in hospital but nothing showed. It does look like the marriage to Margaret Anderson is the wrong one.

I even looked at alot of the Vess families.
I think the other surviving child is Richard so where is he?, is he with her or with relatives, in school?
Her Mother in Law has come over to help out so it would appear she is in hospital, clearly from above not still in prison, but as you say no sign.
