My father, Arthur William Parr, went to the Argentine in 1920. He lived and worked there most of the time until 1943 with various trips back to the UK in-between. He spent much of the time in the north, near Jujuy I believe, working for Leaches Argentine Estates. I'd like to find out about what he did there.
I'd appreciate some help, please, to find out what records might be available in the Argentine and how I might access them. Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish!
I have the details for most of his crossings between the UK and Argentina, but I am missing one from Argentina to the UK between 1920 - 1925. Can anyone find it please?
Similarly, I cannot find a record of his crossing from the Argentine to the UK about 1943. I know he returned to the UK around that time to join up for WWII so it's possible he travelled on a "troop ship", if there were such things. I'd be grateful for suggestions how to go about finding a record if one exists.
Thanks
Keith

Hi,
was his father William, also worked in Argentina, born about 1869, I saw this one in family search, he was born in Britain.
No there info on Arthur.

From Keith's other post, not really connected with this, we have established his grandfather was Thomas William Parr (a carman) born 1876 Cambridge. He was in England in 1901, but vanishes after that.

Thank you for looking, Maggsie, and thank you groom for jumping in.
As groom said, his father was Thomas William. Thomas William and the family are in the 1901 census. For completeness: Thomas William Parr 1867, Edith Louise Tidy 1873, Arthur William Parr 1895, Ellen Jane Parr 1897, and John (Jack, Dick) Henry Thomas Parr 1898.

May be you should try and contact the Leach family directly, they still appear to be active. See http://www.lanacion.com.ar/830442-en-jujuy-pero-con-aire-ingles. It's an article about a hotel (also a farm), may be if you find the hotel e-mail you can contact them. They may be able to tell you where past records may be.
