Hi all
I am planning to go to TNA at Kew on Tuesday 10th November.
I know that there have been a couple of look-up requests already but if you want clarification of an entry post away and I'll do by best for you.
Please give the name of the person you are after, their date of birth to the best of your knowledge if you have it or their age in 1939, their possible address or the "Borough/District" from the free search and the reference number from the URL at the top of the page (I'm aware that the 'hover' function mentioned a few days ago may not be working as it used to.)
This is a reference for my great grandfather, (Percy Sherry if you want to have a look for him) the equivalent numbers I need from you are in red
search.findmypast.co.uk/record/locked?id=tna%2fr39%2f0950%2f0950e%2f009%2f26
I'll be there all day and will do as many as I can.
If I'm allowed to take photos of screen shots I will do, if not, it will be transcriptions.

Will you be able to see the closed entries, or only what we can see if we unlock the record?
Eg in my enthusiasm on day 1, I opened the record of my husband's great grandmother only to see her and 7 blocked entries. All the children have died but since 1991. We have the death certificate for my husband's grandfather so will send that off, but it would be interesting to see the whole entry.

Hi Dawn....How kind of you...I am curious about this record as
Frederick W Groom 1869 _ Kingston Upon Hull - East Yorkshire
Frederick W Groom and 1 more person are on this record
3 more people who are officially closed
3125d 002
I know that Fred lost his wife leaving 3 Children in 1933 but despite trying all variants and giving DOB +/- 2 years... I have failed to find them so I am reluctant to pay for this household if the locked people are not who I expect...All three are now deceased but the oldest child only passed away on October 21st this year.
Thanks for any help or advice.
Carol

Even at TNA, you can only view open records.

Dawn, if you got the time, could you possibly look at the following please as I'd be interested to know what her middle name was and also where she was residing because a play on the place keyword box isn't bringing up where we thought she would be. A distant relative believes she could be his "old aunt Maggie" with whom they resided during the war after being evacuated but not until 1943 so his mother isn't on there with her.
Margaret A Wells born 1882
RG101/5732B/011/40
Rugby RD
Many thanks.
-
Oh...okay Dawn...Thanks...I wouldn't be able to see them anyway if they are the children as I only have a death certificate for my MIL :-\
They weren't evacuated either.

Thanks Dawn, I assumed so but thought it worth asking ;D
Hope you have a successful day.

Is the 1939 Register free to view at TNA Dawn?

Thanks for the offer, if you have time would be appreciated
Barkovity Household Cardiff C.B., Glamorganshire, Wales
First name(s) Last name(s) Birth year
Hetty Pallatt (Burke,Berkovity) 1914
Emanuel Barkovity and 2 more people are on this record
2 more people who are officially closed

I am a little confused Hetty Burke married Harris Tobias Pallatt in 1948. I can't find him on the register unless he is one of the closed ones mentioned although he died in 1975. Perhaps they were boarding prior to him goind to war although I can't find him amongst service records on Ancestry.

Many thanks Guy.
One further query... are people who live abroad not redacted? (The only one of my Grandmother's children who appears with her on the Register is a son who has lived in Australia since the 1970's). He's still alive, (86 yrs old) but the rest of his siblings are redacted.

Hello dawnsh,
I am grateful for your kind offer. I would like to find out the address of my Grandmother. Her name was Florence A. Marsh, born in 1888 and living in Portslade-by-Sea, U.D., Sussex in 1939. The reference number is RG101/2526D/022/28.
I thought that she was living in Abinger Road but when I looked up that address she was not. My Mom was living with her but she is officially closed although she died in 2000.
Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Cein

I would love it if you have time to try to solve my problem. I am having trouble finding my cousin Horace Thomas Mabley Vincent born 19 Dec 1888 in Illogan/Redruth, Cornwall.
I have found a Kathleen Vincent (his wife's name) at 9 Ella Street Hull, the address they were living at in 1942 when she died.
Ref: RG101/3150E/003/32
But it has her birth year as 1879 and everything else says about 1892.
I have also found a Horace Vincent born 1888 in Kent.
Ref: RG101/1790E/019/14
With a Kathleen A Vincent born 1889.
I would appreciate if you could check to see if you think either are my cousin. I don't mind paying for the household, but do object to wasting my money on incorrect households.
Thanking you for your kind offer.

Very kind offer dawn, thank you! :)
I would like to know about this household in particular, especially (if possible), their address and membership in the military:
RG101/7088A/010/18 (to 25) Taunton R.D.
Joseph E Clarke
Florence E Clarke (her middle name was Mabel, so I guess it's just a mistranscription)
Alfred W Clarke
- 4 People retracted
Ann Dibble (Florence's mother)
-
Hi Dawn
I'd be very grateful if you could check
Robert N Petch
Born 1911
Nuneaton MB

Thanks in advance

Hi Dawn,
I would be very grateful if you could put the Hay household of Ilford on your list.
Ref 1098c/014
Particularly interested in Louisa, who may be my mum's Auntie Lou, but wasn't my mum's aunt as I know who all my mum's aunts were. I've been searching for her for years: I vaguely remember visiting her in the early 70s with my mum, and she was a witness at my parents' marriage. But not knowing who she actually was (my mum's dead, and was an only child), I've been up several blind alleys.
Many thanks

Hi crozier
I'm sorry, but you haven't posted an address or reference number for me to check, but if he died in 1928, he won't be on the 1939 register.

Hi Dawn
If you get time I'd be very interested in the Baker household of Newcastle upon Tyne:
James H W Baker (b1909) - especially if it might say what his middle initials stand for and any other details please - and Mary Baker
2937a 010
Many thanks

Hello all
I have done as many of the look-ups as I could.
I took photos of the screens to the best of my ability based on my camera, the lighting conditions at TNA and the state of the pages.
If you posted a request here, could you please send me a pm with your email address so that I can send you the images.
There is a poster at TNA which says that images of screens taken at TNA cannot be publicly published on the internet.
Dawn
